Is there player progression (and grades to worry about) during the Conference and National Tournaments?

Practice still goes on through the CT, even if you are eliminated.  No practice during the NT.  Once you get the second 'final grades' e-mail (a few days before the CT), you can zero out SH minutes and apply them to useful categories.

OK, I was looking at my old emails and saw that "final grades" email (everyone passed!) and that's what got me curious. I'm between the reg season and the CT so I'll drop my SH mins to zero for everyone.

Yeah - you should get the added practice benefit.  Might just be too hard to implement, though.

i've always figured you didn't improve during the NT and PIT because WIS didn't want to make the gap even bigger between the good teams and the not so good ones. although, i guess players improve on off days, too. maybe WIS just didn't want us to have to worry about practice planning during the post season?

I think you have it right coach - if the tourney teams got more practice they would just widen the gap between themselves and the non-tourney teams, making it even harder to get different teams in the next season, and so on...

i bet that is why they didnt do it, but thats just the point - the opportunity to improve by playing and practicing in post season is a big deal and should be there

in football, it is huge - playing in a bowl lets you practice for 4-6 weeks longer

in basketball, you have weeks of added practice and you have the improvement that comes from playing in tunament games

Just allow floating WE< so that WE can improve by being in the postseason. . .

that is actually a nice easy fix - players could get a modest WE bump from playing in postseason - just something in the range of 1-3 points.....a smidge....

It's always bothered me that we haven't been able to make "practice plans" for the offseason.

At the end of each season when I was in college, each of us (aside from seniors) would have an "exit interview" with the coach where he would tell us what he wanted us to practice, what kind of lifting program he wanted us to do, etc. We would get a booklet with a workout schedule and checklist.

Of course not everyone did them, but that's the point of the WE category. Let me put sixty minutes towards certain individual categories and hope that he practices them. Why do I give a damn that my PG's shot blocking ability went from 3 to 6 while his PER (85 to 82), BH (84 to 84) and PASS (81 to 81) all went down or stayed the same? (Hypothetical scenario, but I have had several years where players improve in inconsequential areas but not the most important, even before potential was implemented)

Is there off-season (after the NT) improvement in players?

yeah, off season improvement is tied to work ethic, potential, and eligibility, i believe.

Is the offseson improvement based on your practice plan? Or just random based off WE and POT
