Complete Scout Option?-New Idea Topic

This would be something that could come in real handy for internationals or players at your own recruiting level who dont need to be pulled down.  It's annoying sending a bunch of scouting trips and not getting all the things back.  For the price of 3 or 4 scouting trips, they should have another option called "Complete Scout."  For this you get recruiting effort credit of only 1 scouting trip, but you get the potentials for everything.

I know this would be a sensative issue because of FSS but it would be about balancing the price because it would cost a good amount, enough that you couldnt afford to just use it as a shotgun approach.  Atleast make it only availibe for internationals.

Correct me if I am wrong, but would you not be losing money if you paid that much on reports as opposed to just buying FSS for that state?

EDIT: Oh, sorry. I skimmed over it and did not see that you said internationals. In that case, this is a solid idea.

He said internationals. I would think this option should cost more than 2 scouting trips, at least 1600 for the max price internationals. I'm still in favor of being able to actually have scouting trips targeted, you still only get a report for 4 categories but you pick the 4. It's really annoying having to do 5 or 6 scouting trips to find out the 1 area you actually care about.

I think it should cost at least 3500 which for intls is 5 scouting trips. I just wasted about 8 trips on an intl, and still don't have any idea about his speed potential.

Here's a system I would like, and think is more realistic than the current one:

-The scouting database, instead of showing player ratings to begin with, just shows stats, gpa and some combine-like measurables that give an indication of ratings but not the ratings themselves

-Paying for FSS gives more specific ratings (something like a 20-pt range for each rating. similar to low/med/high/high-high potential, except for ratings out of 100)

-The first time you use an Eval on a player you get all his ratings
-The second time, all his IQ's and his work ethic
-The third, all his potentials
-The fourth, his durability and some personality traits
-The fifth and beyond, more specific potential for one attribute at a time

a version more similar to yours would be just making it so scouting trips didn't overlap in potentials given before you knew all his potentials

Why don't they just include a FSS International.  You would have to pay more but it wouldn't really have to change anything that they don't have in place already.  Scout by continent or Country, but I really don't see why they don't have FSS available for all recruits.

I don't necessarily agree with the exact proposed change, but some tweaking of scouting trips seems like a very reasonable idea.  We've all had those times when we do half a dozen ST's on a big and still don't know his LP and REB upside.  Brutal.  Seriously assistant coach - I get it, he has little upside in PER.  I don't mind the idea of FSS, but many of the arguments against it are sound, so wouldn't even be opposed to a major recruiting overhaul but understand that would be a program mess. A more expensive, but more complete ST seems like an easy enough tweak.  Or atleast less overlap from ST1 to ST2.  Heck, even something more extreme like spending recruiting bucks on educating your assistant coach so he's not such a dimwit on these trips.  In fact the whole assistant coach seems like a whole area of untapped awesomeness.  You could have him build up prestige as he scouts and recruits certain areas over and over.  Or invest in him being a specialist on a certain skill so your team gets a unique bump in whatever you want him to specialize in, etc.  wow, im way offtopic now.

tldr:  yes fix scouting trips.

The system you just described is VERY similar to what exists in WIS's soccer game, FC Dynasty. If you want to see your plan in action, I suggest trying out a season of the game (its free) and seeing why this type of system detracts from the overall game experience (and if you think I'm trying to promote FC Dynasty, you're wrong. I don't play it anymore, and there's numerous reasons the game is virutally abandoned...).

In short, with this system you end up only being able to see a select portion of actual ratings from the recruiting pool, and there's no guarantee you'll like the recruits you see. Usually, once you've spent your money on just identifying possible recruits, you have very little funds left for actually recruiting and battling for them. In this system, recruiting would be based on luck of the draw, especially in D2 and D3 where there aren't player rankings.

It's a realistic idea, yes, but not very healthy for HD
