I've seen different things in different places: how much is a half grade of prestige worth?  I had read that it was worth 1/3 of effort, so, say, 10K from a C- was roughly equal to 13.3K from a C, and 16.6K from a C+ and 20K from a B-.   But that seems high? Is there a difference between A v. B, B v. C, C v. D? 

Also, are there conference effects aside from $?

most commonly given figure is about 1/3 per step, or 100% for a full letter grade. I don't adhere to that figure, but I won't divulge mine. Most say that A v B is no different than C v D but I've seen other arguments. I believe conference prestige is a factor in recruiting, I don't know how big.

It is not a factor in recruiting whatsoever, and never has been.

I hear the next dev chat has been tentatively schedule for March 2014.
