Hypothetically, if I've got a freshman with high potential pretty much across the board, would I be better off evenly distributing practice minutes, or am I better served sacrificing minutes in less important skills and piling minutes on the key skills early.

Also, if a player has 20 minutes of practice time in an area, will he improve twice as fast as if he had 10 minutes in that area or just at a higher rate?

I like to stack minutes in the low-low categories very early to get that maxxed out message and close that category out - then I don't have to bother with maintenance minutes and I can repurpose those minutes to high potential areas. I'll usually try to do that a couple times if the player has enough lows.

I have never done this myself.  Are you saying that if you have a freshman with low-low, you load up the minutes and get the maxed-out email, pull the minutes and he will never lose a point in that category for the rest of his career (even in the off-season)?

I usually just start low-lows out with 0 and only bother putting minutes in once they've maxed out their other categories.  Unless they're in cores, anyway...

if the category has usable value (ie it isn't like 10 or below or something - depending on category) and assuming I have minutes to protect my cores, yes, I will load up on whichever low low is most useful, squeeze the 1 point of life out of it or whatever, and then empty it and keep an eye on it. It may eventually lose a point - if its important and if I'm running out of things to improve by then, I'll maybe add back some minutes again to see if that 1 pt loss comes back...but generally they don't lose, and I don't have to bother with minutes to hold them without drops...
