redshirting a FR that has been promised minutes Topic

SO, what is likely to happen when I try to redshirt a freshman whom I promised 10 minutes a game to?

Big WE drop.

any chance he takes it without a drop?

Pretty much no.

100% no. In addition, he may quit after the season.

Was this a change? If not I know it has worked out (at some point in the past) where there is (a very small chance) no WE drop.

  • Closed the loophole of redshirting a player to avoid fulfilling recruiting promises. Players who were promised minutes or a starting spot will always be angry now if a coach redshirts them. Also, redshirted players will now be included in the pool of players who may complain if they're not getting their promised minutes/starting spot.

back in the day, you used to be able to promise him 15 minutes, with no start and redshirting him would work 100% of the time.
