Sim Recruiting - How easy to take a recruit away? Topic

I see a recruit that is considering a Sim AI team and it's before the signing period has opened. How easy is it to take a recruit away from a Sim AI?  Will the Sim team fight back against me at all?

It depends how much effort the Sim team has invested in the player. Check the Word on the Street to see what level of commitment the player has to the school. Check your distance to the recruit and remember that Sim teams recruit all players as if they are 250 miles away. Compare your school prestige to the prestige level of the Sim school. There's no set amount of actions that it takes to knock a Sim off a recruit, but all of these things will help tell you how much effort you'll have to pour in to overcome what the Sim has placed on the player. If you're trying to knock a player 1,400 miles away from you that's "tight" with a Sim team that's got a higher prestige than your school, that's going to cost far, far more than going after a player 50 miles away who has "received some interest" from the Sim that's a C- prestige to your C+.

The Sim won't "fight back" (i.e.-add further resources/effort to sign the player) until MAYBE the second wave of Sim effort, which is late in the signing window (and I'm not sure if the Sim adds to unsigned players or simply randomly selects other players at "need" positions to allocate any remaining resources to). The Sim team WILL start to receive consideration credit starting 24 hours after recruiting begins, which can, in a manner of speaking, seem to be "fighting back."

Thanks, all of that is super helpful. So, is there not a standard amount of recruiting efforts that Sims put into a player?  Does it totally vary?

A given SIM will have some high priority players and some low

Then you also need to think about how many recruits the SIM is chasing vs its number of open schollies - bad news if it has 3 openings and 1 recruit cause it is using a lot of $$ on that one.  Better news if it has 6 openings and 3 recruits - so long as your guy isnt the high priority guy.

PLUS of course the SIMs prestige as noted

My understanding (and I'll be the first to admit that I might be wrong here) is that the AI somehow weights the effort it places toward players. So Sim State might be going after Player A harder than Player B, both of whom are shown to be considering the school.

I see. So it's a bit of a crap shoot. That info is all very helpful!

use FSS to reduce the crap shoot ness - the heard on the street info will tell you whether he is deeply committed to the SIM (likely high priority) or just barely considering  (likely not)

FSS said (before I did any recruiting effort): He's definitely leaning, but not 100% sold.  Where does that rank on the Sim AI effort list?

if you have scouted the places, take a look at what the OTHER recruits that SIM is chasing are showing - he could be low priority

Thanks for that suggestion. I hadn't thought of that.

Not a crap shoot, I have always found that (this is more for d1) the higher ranked player (by recruiting service) is the one that the school has put more money into.

I've beaten sims for recruits in the past, but it usually amounted to putting in double or triple the effort to force the Sim off.  It may not always be worth it.

How do you know that you had to put double or triple the effort that the sim did to beat him for the recruit?
