My St. Louis team will hopefully win the regular season championship and then finish runner up in the conference tournament and miss another NT.

Oh...This isn't what your looking for.

In Iba non-Big 6 teams won the title in seasons 47(St. Bonnie), 45, 43, 39, 37, 36, 34, 31, 30 and plenty before
Runnersup 47 (Xavier), 46, 38,37,35, 34, 32, 31 and plenty before

If I am not mistaken St. Joe's from the A-10 was also a FF team in season 47....

In Iba we don't see to suffer from the Big 6 plague other world have.

Well, the truth is it's been the Big 7 in Iba for awhile... take out the A10 and you are left with very few.

agreed, but two things...

A-10 is losing steam after 30 or so string seasons and IBA is the exception that mid major conferences can't win... CUSA seems to be coming on now.

Lots of good coaches purposefully made the move to C-USA in Iba.  Unless you've got a bunch of good coaches in one conference that can piggyback off each others success, probably hard to as successful as IBA, although I don't know if that was the case for St. Bonnie's success.

Well, the Bonnie's success is attributed to a legend and he and several good coachs kept the A10 as one of the top conferences in Iba for quite some time, so yes they were piggybacking on each other's success (and thus able to overide the conference's inherent low prestige) with LM2 leading the way. And while there are certainly some decent coachs in CUSA, I'm not sure they rise to the level of the collective that created the A10 powerhouse. We are talking many NC's and runnerups. I'm not even sure it could be done nowadays with the new recruit generation. Not conference wide, I just don't see it.
