If pull RS anyone have kid accept it again later? Topic

OK, prior to kick off of recruiting I got a So PG (Rice) to RS, eagerly I might add.  And he played a fair amount last season, could start this season if I need him to, and there is only 1 other PG on the roster (also a So who just finished RS year and is still a lesser player than the Rice).

Now, I have 4 incoming freshmen, a couple of who could either use the RS season or could be monsters down the road with it.  My dilemma: do I pull the RS off the kid who has accepted it and hope one of the incoming kids will agree to take it.  If no one takes it I am concerned that Rice won't take it as readily.

Anyone ever pulled a RS, offered the RS to someone else, and then eventually come back and gotten the original kid to accept it?

Hope that makes some sense.

if you have informed him that he will NOT redshirt, it is very very unlikely that he will take a RS

Was afraid that wasn't going to be clear.  Let me lay out a hypothetical:

Player A     So     PG     has accepted RS with no hit, after averaging ~ 15 mpg his freshman season
Player B     Fr      SG     Incoming kid at a deep position (3 SGs ahead of him)

Assume I take the RS off Player A and offer it to player B.  Player B rejects it.  I come back and ask Player A to take it again.  Anyone ever do this and have Player A readily accept it again?

My understanding is while there may be a tendency for the kids to accept (or reject) the RS, each time it is offered can have a different outcome, and while overall the outcome will tend to be similar it is not a guarantee.  Anyone who can offer some insight or experience?

mets he is talking about a sophomore kid that is already on his team, not the Intent to RS button in recruiting I think...

That said if you pull it I'd expect to see the waffle message the next time with him being upset - not saying he wouldn't take it the 2nd time but I wouldn't expect him to.

Yea every time you take it off the odds of him accepting reset so its highly unlikely if you pull it that he will accept later.

If that were true blackdog, the odds would remain the same.

Yea and he was incredibly lucky to get the guy to take the RS in the first place so the odds of it happening twice are pretty low.

hard to know for sure, we dont know whether you were lucky when he said yes (did you get the one yes out ten chances or one of three??)

it is a big gamble

Thanks for the inputs.  I've actually been pretty "lucky" in getting sophomores to accept the RS when done prior to start of recruiting, although never for a kid who had played so much his first year.

I did elect to pull the RS and will try it on some of the incoming kids--I think one will take it and the WE on the So in question is good enough I think he'll be fine without it.  So, I'll update when the dust settles and report back what did happen in case anyone is ever interested in something similar.

It look as if one of the freshmen took it.

Yep, one of the Fr did take it.  So, this test won't be completed.
