Something else I have also done is to shoot a couple of scouting reports towards someone in a huge state that I don't want to pay FSS for if I am interested to see if I am THAT interested.  In that case, I've scouted just the player but not the state.

I have only done this once or twice - usually because the cost of 1-2 evals to anywhere I haven't already FSS'd is usually pretty close to the cost of the whole damn state.

Well.  If I do it its usually California, Texas or New York.  Something like that which is rather expensive.

Or one not quite as large that is still close by but I haven't FSS'ed.

makes sense, if you did like the kid you'd want to send a couple to see about high-highs anyway...

Yeah I guess I still like to see if there are any highs before I eval.

Not THAT terribly different from recruiting an International.  

C'mon Ho, you won three national championships and your worried about this.....your a WIS god!  Anyway I see some of the same things Ho is talking about.

interesting theory horick. i believe this has happened in the past and may still be happening but only on very small scale.  i remember someone who did this many seasons ago but he no longer coaches.

i commend anyone who can wait till signings start to begin recruiting but i have trouble just missing the first cycle.  maybe that's why my team is getting progressively worse.

are there any coaches who recruit without using FSS? i wouldn't know where to start.
