Gentry:

15 min P growth 10 pts.
10 min LP growth 9pts
16 min Conditioning. ATH growth 12 pts.
14 min Bh growth 7 pts.

I really believe with a 91 WE and high potential in all these categories he should have grown more in P and BH. He did have an academic scare this season and this is how the minutes were allocated from the second grading period to the end of the season. He actually had more minutes in his core areas before the increased SH time. I don't see how he can grow 9 pts in LP and 7 pts in BH when I have 4 mins extra in BH and both skills have high potential. He even had high potential in speed and grew an amazing 0 pts. This is what I mean when I say I'm a tad unhappy... just a bit.
Either you are mistaken about his potential in speed or something went wrong because there is no possible way he could have high potential with 16 minutes in conditioning and grow 0 points. That just cant happen.

He definitely had high potential in speed. It was my basis on recruiting him.  He either had high potential or low potential and he only had low potential in RB and SB.

This is what FSS told me about him.

9 pts in lp with only 10 mins of practice is a ton, made possible due to his we. That's a perfect example of a category you could've had much more growth in had you chose to allocate more practice minutes there.

I promise you that he was low in sp, not high. I'd bet my next paycheck on it.

Also, remember that this is his second season, so while he had 20+ pts in potential growth in these categories to start with, a chunk of that growth already happened in his first season and the ensuing offseason. BH is a good example -- he probably had low 20's of total growth possible, and you got half of that or more (likely more) from his first season and the offseason.

He had very nice growth this season, everything looks how I would expect.

Well there is no way for me to prove what I'm saying now but you'd lose that check of yours girt. This guy had high potential in everything but RB and SB. He definitely had high speed potential according to FSS. As far as my coaches email from scouting and the first practice email  I don't know but according to FSS speed was green and high.

I dont think it can happen for someone with high potential to completely max out during a redshirt season. Especially true for something that improves as slowly as speed. If you think he really did have high potential you should send a ticket because thats wrong.

Then I am sending a ticket now because I know what I saw... because watching this kid grow was one of  the main reasons I was excited about this season.

You don't have any of the previous player thoughts emails? Or any of the emails from recruiting?

If you do, I'd bet you that you'll discover you were mistaken. If you don't, there's not a thing that CS could/should do.

Ok here's the question because I know this guy had high potential in speed as far as FSS is concerned. His player thoughts email did have him listed limited upside in speed, so how does that work? High potential in speed from FSS, limited upside from the player thoughts email, and no mention of speed at all in scouting trip email. I have a buddy that saw the same thing I saw in FSS as far as this player having high potential in all but RB and SB so he can back me up on that so my guess is he should have high low potential in speed. No growth at all still disappoints me.

You must've misread the FSS. May have thought that a category indicating speed was actually something else.

Why, the second you got the Player Thoughts email and thought something might be amiss, didn't you do something? Now here you are two seasons later ...
10/16/2011 9:41 AM
That's the thing I didn't think anything was amiss because of the posts about potential. There's a whole thread on high-high potential and high-low potential in different categories. There's even a way to estimate how much your player can grown based on 1.) what you see in FSS 2.) your scouting email from asst. coach and 3.) to muddy things up a bit more, the player thoughts email you receive on all players after the first practice. Gentry did grow in speed his RS season so why would I question anything until now? I'm pretty sure you have read it but zhawks has a whole spreadsheet about this high-high high-low potential stuff.
10/16/2011 10:14 AM
There is no way I misread FSS... His whole sheet was GREEN lol except for 2 categories RB and SB. I know I didnt misread FSS because I even showed the potential to my friend iwanturmind2. If it convinces anyone I will ask him to come on and cosign my statement.
10/16/2011 10:25 AM
The second the player thoughts email showed up and said he was low potential that should have been a huge warning sign that either you were wrong about the FSS or something was wrong. The player thoughts email is the one that is more accurate than the FSS or the scouting reports.

Just to clarify was the player thoughts email saying he was low from his freshman season or the redshirt season? Also how much did he improve in speed during the RS year?
10/16/2011 11:42 AM
Well as I said before there is a thread on high-high and high-low potential. That was enough for me to believe all was copacetic. If I'm correct, he improved about 5 pts in speed his rs season. The player thought email was from this season.
10/16/2011 11:50 AM
What does the player thoughts email from his first season say?
