Loosing a recruit, and lessons learned. Topic

Spent just under 6k on a DIII recruit that was not a pulldown.

He was one of 3 considering me prior to the signing period, but I only had a C- prestige and 3 open schollies.   I hadn't spent too much when he started considering a school that had a minor distance advantage (~70 to 120), a C prestige, 7 open schollies, and no one else considering.  I didn't really need him, but chased anyway, guaranteed 10, then 15 minutes, but I simply could not promise any more.  I am certain that the other coach promised him nothing, but never had anyone else considering until after he signed.

I don't think that distance or prestige disadvantages mattered that much and I doubt I was outspent.  I think the ratio of open schollies to considering recruits made the difference.

You got outspent. He had at least 18k in cash, probably 20k with postseason cash to your 10-11k. He could have easily dropped 8k to sign this guy.
