New announcment from Seble Topic

Agree with Wenna/daalt. This is worth a ticket. I love the idea of making the job search look at more than just the last four years, but I think after that maybe it should look at positivies more than negatives?

I don't know how difficult it would be to code individual matchups for man-to-man defenses, but it needs to happen.

Idk if anyone mentioned this, but how about a mass phone call option. Really hate having to open 30 windows, switch to recruiting, and then send a phone call.

Does anyone have any gameplanning ideas....job selection and resumes are fine but secondary to gameplanning and making the game more realistic
there are so many areas that need addressing....it seems like the job hunt and recruiting items should take a back seat to the real issues.

End of game plays

What if scenarios if a player is doubled     ie   if player 1 is doubled than reduce his distro by ____ whatever   etc

Fatigue factors or minutes played for each position    not per player....

More offensive sets      based on who is playing at the time

Play distribution broken down more for passing and actual plays called for a certain player   ie   player has 20 distribution but you want him to call out the plays and make decisions based on his ball handling  and passing to set up whoever is open for the shot...distribution at 20 but shooting at 5   something along those lines

Time and time again I have one of my better players intentionally foul at the end of a game which causes him to foul out...Def change the logic with something like closest player to guy with ball and least amount of fouls....end of game three point shots by people who never take them...why?

etc etc

Too many game planning options and you make the game too complex for beginners to want to play and you end up with GD.

My feeling is just the opposite...I think that the people who play this game enjoy that aspect of it...just my opinion....

"People that play this game" whereas mully was talking about "new players"...

i think that has more to do with price and advertising rather than complexity of the game...If anyone who has never played the game read through the recruiting and job searching posts he or she would get the feeling the game is to complex,   when in reality it is really not...

I'm an experienced and fairly successful coach who currently has 12 teams across multiple IDs and I can say for certain that if all those ideas were implemented and gameplanning became a lot more complex than at least 9 of those would be dropped and I would never pay to play this game again.

Re: Upcoming update - Coach's Resume

I posted this comment in the main HD forum thread discussing your update. I was encouraged by several prominant coaches to forward it directly to you - so here it is.

"On first glance, this seems like a better way to do it however, my concern is that coaches will be less likely to take over rebuilds if there is a long term effect. I would like to see more credit built in for turning around a losing team and less credit for taking over a traditional winner. One way to incoroprate this would be to mimimize the impact of the W-L record for the first 3-4 seasons after a coach takes over a new team. The effect of not giving full credit until a coach is playing with a team of his own building would be a more fair way to recognize true coaching ability. It would also encourage coaches to fill the slew of open teams without concern once the other new improvements are implemented."

I hope you will consider this when you work on improving the Coach's Resume part of the update. Thanks for the effort. It is appreciated.

SEBLE'S RESPONSE

Ed,

That type of adjustment was already part of the process. We'll take a closer look at it for the update to make sure it's significant enough.

Interesting Weena, I didn't know that. Good to hear.

I'm ok with adding a small amount of extra features, but I agree - if I had to spend an hour each day per team game planning I wouldn't have time. I already have to set aside a lot of time each month for recruiting and scouring the HS players.

The last time they made this game more complex....i.e. Future Scouting Service.... dozens of players dropped teams or quit completely.    I've also seen a multitude of coaches last only a single season.   We don't need anything more complex

This is sort of related since its in a thing about game improvement.  Do the forums show up oddly on firefox for anyone else?
10/21/2011 8:12 AM
Gameplanning is what makes the game fun for me that is why i am asking for improvements in that area...as a coach in real life its frustrating at times not to be able to set the team up the way i would in a game situation.   The recruiting and resume stuff is fine but it seems to carry much more weight than the actual playing of the game....I have coached one of my teams in Knight in Hawaii for 13 seasons and recruiting from there is extremely difficult especially when the player pool is weak and there is only like 20 players anyway that are worth looking at.   The recruiting dollar difference is a huge obstical to overcome when going after a player that is in the mainland.
