Am I right that the ONLY risk when redshirting a player who was not informed of redshirt is that his WE can plummet?

Does anyone know whether there is a chance he might transfer?

I signed a kid with VERY low WE and I'm thinking I just might redshirt him, so he can learn some of the O and D - very slowly and it does matter if his WE goes down a few points......???

anyone have an answer on this?
I would like to slap one on a SR and hold him over for next season.
His WE is lame anyway... and he's maxed out.
He will drop to 1... but has anyone had a kid transfer?

My experience has been that if you hold a player out of both preseason exhibitions you increase the chances of him accepting the RS.  If his position is already stacked, that's a bit more of a bonus too.

Haven't had any kids transfer myself, but I'm a big chicken and tend to remove the RS if he gets too upset.  Never tried to RS an upperclassman.

They almost never leave.  I don't think it's impossible, but it's highly unlikely.

Marc, I don't think that will work on a senior.

Regarding OP, I don't know the answer unfortunately, but I have thought about the whole RS a senior thing, so I'd like to know how this plays out.

Can he 'choose to leave' and not take his 5th season? i.e. end his college career? Something makes me think that might be a possibility too, although maybe that if for Non qualies 5th year?

I just did this with a senior in Naismith (Hillman).  You can see this with my current team there (FDM).  I will find out if the player leaves in a few days when the teams reset as the NT finals are tonight.  But I waited until conference play to redshirt him and I did RS him that early because I didnt want to risk him playing if several of my players fouled out.

I didnt get any emails about him threatening to leave.

The only way a guy will transfer due to a RS is if he is a recruit you just signed that you made promises to.

Anyone ever have a guy agree to a redshirt when informed of redshirt during recruiting then refuse it once it was actually offered after recruiting? I just did.

Unless you rescinded the inform and if you are sure he accepted it, send a ticket.

CS told me I rescinded it 2 minutes after I offered it. I don't think I did, and the next cycle he said he thought it was a good idea. I believe I'm just SOL. I'll just cut him next season.
