I think the switch in HD was made a few years ago when San Diego made the RL NCAA.

You're right, St Mary's should have a team.  Who should they eliminate?

Maybe Centenary, which has reclassified from DI to DIII.   Perhaps New Orleans, which is planning to drop to DII.

If they wanted to keep Centenary (LA) , they could put them in DIII in place of Fisk (TN) or St. Paul's (VA), which have dropped all sports.

Easy solution: rebrand Morris Brown as St. Mary's, move St. Mary's to the WCC and bring Grambling State (HD WCC but actually SWAC) or Lipscomb (HD WCC but actually A-Sun) to the MEAC.  Lipscomb would make more sense geographically (Tennessee borders the MEAC states) but Grambling State's probably a better fit because of the HBCU thing.


I'm all in favor of some minor realignment, as people may have noticed from my big thread a few months back.  But this one would be EXTRA minor - and there can't be many humans coaching at Morris Brown or Grambling State.

I like your idea.  And they could still replace Fisk with Centenary in DIII.  Fisk, in Tennessee, is in the Ohio Conference. FIsk and Maryville are the only Southern schools in that conference, so Centenary makes as much sense.

Naismith: G State, Lipscomb, Morris Brown are all open.
Tark: G State, Lipscomb, Morris Brown are all open.

Will someone check the other worlds? If somehow Morris Brown is totally uncoached and either G State or Lipscomb is, I'll totally send a ticket.
