Hughes - I actually got that too (which is why I said if you can't do a in the b's idea).  My ? was slightly different, more addressing the 60% number, which is arbitrary I assume, and asking about the possibility of changing it to 80% (I said even 100%, but I take that one back, that would be an awful idea actually).

Also, related to that idea and additional, I assume some logic exists that sets a flag at 60%.   This is a ? for seble not hughesjr although hughes your opinion is welcome I assume you are not writing the code, is it possible to at that point also look for 80% and set a second flag, that would be used in the minutes per game calculation?  For some reason, as hughes so helpfully pointed out, you seemed to imply it was not possible, but I am just asking, sometimes hearing ideas from others who care about the game helps jog an idea or flesh out a new way of thinking?

Or even just leave the injured flag as is and make it lower the expectations by some small percentage during the time the flag = "Injured' at all.  Even if they just expected 90% of minutes promised while injured, it would make a big difference.  Or, as another compromise, raise the percentage they need to be at to expect playing time to, say, 75% or something.

When an injury occurs, we calculate the number of games until the player will reach 60%.  That number is stored, so I can get that for purposes of promised minutes complaints.  It's entirely possible to change that to 80%, but that would also lock the player out of action until that point.  I'm not sure if coaches ever play guys at less than 80% or not, but if we changed it that would no longer be an option.

I think I would leave it as is rather than lock a player "out" until he is at 80%.  This does pose a tough choice - and I think I would almost always sit a guy till he is at 80%, but in my personal view I can imagine situations where I would prefer to use a guy at 70 or 75% rather than being foreclosed.

AND, I think that a college kid would tend to be antsy about returning so it isnt all that unrealistic.

In some future version of the game - and not a top priority for effort at all - it would be great if there could be two injury levels - out (60%) and fully ready to play (80?  85?) with MPG concerns arising only at the latter

thx seble, interesting, that makes sense how you programmed the 60%, would it not be a simple fix to also calculate and store the number of games to 80% at the same time?  anyhow thank you for responding, I don't know how difficult this type of exchange is for you to participate in, but it does help coaches more than you might imagine & does drum up interest in both the forums and in the game!!!!

Agree, thanks for your help, seble.

Yah.  Understanding WHY something is the way it is helps a good bit.

What about when you are trying to give a guy minutes, but he fouls out or gets in major foul trouble early and sits the majority of the game?

when that happens you may have a problem - but it goes with the territory on this promise stuff

yeah, no offense to anyone, but the way I see it is if you think you may have trouble fulfilling a promise to a guy don't make one. I realize injuries can cause problems with keeping these promises since you may not want to play a guy who is not above a certain %. But that should be something you take into account when making promises. If you would be willing to play the guy while slightly injured then go ahead and make the promise. If you are a coach who isnt comfortable doing that then just don't offer it.

They really shouldn't have to change a part of the game just to make it easier for us to promise a recruit minutes :)

most times a random early foul out here or there or even an injury shouldn't be an impossible barrier to keeping most promises.
