Prestige D1 vs D2 Topic

Does anyone know how high D2 teams rank against low prestige D1 teams? Let's say a D2 school has an A+ prestige and a D1 school has a D- prestige, would these two teams be equivalent in prestige? Would one be higher than the other?

The D1 D- is higher than the D2 A+.  I don't believe it is a huge margin, maybe a letter grade at D2 to D1, probably less from D3 to D2.  That's just a rough guess.

There used to be a glitch where a lower division school could move "up" from A+ to D-, meaning that they had moved from, say, a D3 A+ to a D2 D- in their grade.  A fix was put in place fairly quickly, but that at least told us that they weren't actually that far apart.

Another question. I notice some coaches play Pg's at SF spots. Does size matter when you do that? If I play a short guard say 5'8" at the SF would it be more detrimental than helpful to my team? Has anyone ever done this with success or does it not even matter as long as the player has the skills? thanks.

height is already a part of skills, so, in essence, it doesn't matter (or more accurately, it already mattered and now its just for show)

But there is a slight position penalty for playing a guy 2 spots out of position. In your example a PG would be fine at SG but would take a small hit if you put him at SF.

this is no longer the case.

I hear on the forum that there will be NO position penalty after the changes - is this true? (metsmax - Hall of Famer - 12:59 PM)

There is currently no position penalty, so a player's performance depends solely on his ratings. If that causes any problems I reserve the right to reinstate that penalty, but I'd rather not have to do that.

Thanks dacj. So with height factored in, is that more of a bonus in REB for the taller matchup? Seems height would really only help REB, SB, and if the engine is this complex maybe shooting over the smaller opponent?

no idea how the engine handles it, just that it is already taken into account. Honestly I almost never even notice a player's height...

Alright. Still good to know. Thanks.

Height literally does not matter.  So your 5'8" PG - if he has a 60 REB, for instance, think of him as just having that much more "hops" than a 60-REB SF that stands 6'5".  They'll play exactly the same in HD, but I guess if you could watch an HD game, one would be a short guy with better rebounding instincts and a better vertical making up for (read: cancelling out) the height disadvantage.

I love shorter PFs but just for the cosmetics.  I call 'em my "little Barkleys".

Wow wish I knew this sooner. Thanks for the update. I might actually change my lineup right now.

Yeah me too... I've recruited players accounting for height in all my decisions up to this point... It seems a lot of the shorter guys have better ratings on average too. Live and learn.
