PG Distribution Topic

I was just wondering because it's been bugging me this season... What does distribution affect for a PG? Because I want my PG's to handle the ball the majority of the time, but not to be the one trying to score all of the time... Basically what does a high distribution or low distribution do for a PG? Thanks

higher distro = more shots.

Yeah I know that, but would a higher distribution make my PG handle the ball more?

the pg still completely runs the offense with 0 distro, he just won't take any shots

Ok thanks that's what I was trying to get at...

So if you gave a PG 5 or 6 distribution, since he already runs the offense does that 5 or 6 equal 8 or 10 for a different position like SF or PF?

no

So distro has no posittional effects? If I have a PG and PF set at 25 distro they would get the same amount of play calls, all other things being constant? I was told otherwise if so. I was told that because the pg handles the ball more his distro may be more valuable than a front court player. So I've been trying to give less distro to my PG. idk seems everyone has different opinions on things.

The distro means only the percentage of plays called for that player. Your pg will generally handle the ball, but if they have a higher distro, they will have more plays called for them.

I wonder if rednation58 is getting at something like I experienced this year.  I had a PG and a C who were shouldering a lot of the offensive load, getting the most distro.  The PG reliably took significantly more shots.  So while I may be running the same number of plays for each, plays for the C get busted up pre-shot more than plays for the PG.  Does that make sense?

I do think you'll generally see a PG get off more shots than a C with the same distro.  C sometimes neutralize this discrepancy a bit with offensive putbacks.

Tempo may also play into this as well.  It seems uptempo, or even a fastbreak offensive set, results in abnormally high shot attempts for the guards.

Yes this is exactly what I mean. And if the play doesn't get busted maybe the guy gets an assist out of it.
