I have a query about what it take to have a good man defense at DIII. Not so much like Isacs/Ike's thread a while back about what it takes to be elite, but more of the what defensive rating at DIII would you find acceptable.

What would you consider the lowest Def rating for a passable M2M defender at DIII 30's, 40's, 50's.

I have not played a lot of man defense and am curious to see what you consider you can get away with, and not get run off the court.

When I'm searching for recruits, I'll put a minimum DEF rating of around 25-28 - and I'll only look at guys that low if they're high potential. My goal is to get all my players above 40 during their soph year, and my upperclassmen should average 50 or higher. (Not all of them do, but that's generally my target.)

I start guys in the 20's but only because I am rebuilding a program.   It hurts.

I try to set my minimum in recruiting to 40 in DIII and I like to see a max out in the 60's.

I'll go lower if the the guy has an ATH around 60.

Generally speaking, I like my guards to have 150-180 in ATH+SPD+DEF.  With a High IQ, I think that makes a good DIII defender.
