I'll bring paper plates.  I still get to eat if I just bring paper plates, right?

Question: Is there a rule against having alias' in the same world?

Ex. Say I make account Salagv2 and have Salagv2 take over another D3 program in Allen world, as Salag currently is coaching at D3 Suffolk in Allen. Against rules or within the rules?
I questioned WIS about this a while back, because someone I know said they had a team in Washington, and I think the other one was in Nebraska (can't remember where) in Division 2. They said that if they were in different regions it was OK. But in Division 1, I don't think it would be OK. In D3, if you had a team in NY and one in California, I think they would allow that, but technically you could still scout places like Arizona from NY if that's what you were using it for. I personally feel that people should only have one team in a world - no alias's. And I think that if two people are playing from the same computer or IP address in the same world that WIS should investigate it and be sure that it is not one person controlling multiple teams. I know that in another online simulation game I played (Airway Sim), my son also took an airline, and they contacted and questioned me about it right away.

beating a dead horse there chapelhillne. I once proved that a coach had 4 ids in d3 (and he still does) Phelan, with these teams recruiting players from the same state, such as the CA team having players from TX, TX team having players from CA, TX + MA team both having players from NC, and all these players are from the same class. Seble just said whatever and nothing was addressed.

as long as you are paying, WIS is not going to ban you from the game barring something egregious.
11/10/2011 4:57 PM
There is only so much WIS can do as far as guys using other teams to scout talent without using their own budgets. Even if one person isn't controlling 2 or more teams in one world, the person may have friends who control other teams in the same world and the person may even know their friends' passwords. What can you do about that?  Point is there are at least two ways to collude/cheat the game to get the best recruits. Either you pay WIS for more teams or you know people and have access to their teams. Either way it sucks for coaches who play the game as designed, but lose out because of coaches who work the system.

Yeah - I agree that it stinks. But, if I had to do that to win, there would not be the same satisfaction as their is in knowing that I can beat players like that while playing within the framework of the rules. Why bother to cheat to win. If I had to do that, I'd feel like I really hadn't accomplished anything, because anybody can win if they have double or triple the recruiting budget. I still think they should really try to police it better, and at least make it look like they are trying.

It is obvious that dbalog is the alias of a veteran coach. His profile shows that he joined WIS on Nov. 18, 2005. He played 28 seasons under that ID and had a record of 532-286 (0.650) with 11 conference championships. However, to make the leap to say that dbalog = girt25 is unmerited. It could be one of several coaches with a B or better prestige in Rupp. To claim that it is girt25 simply because of some alleged similarity in writing style is bogus. Most of us write very much the same and the sample size would likely not be enough for a forensics expert to validate in court. Also, for those who care, I have been contacted many times in the past by various coaches asking in different ways who I was going to recruit. It happens. My response is to not reply to them and move on. If it turns out that dbalog is in fact girt25 then I'm happy for you. However, until you have more proof than your guilty conscience opinion, I think you should let this drop.
You are right Weena.  The correct approach is what you do - nothing.  Continue to let it happen.  That always works well in life.
No, the proper thing to do is to make a report to WIS.  They can look at the IP address logs of the modifications made by each ID and tell very easily if 2 IDs come from the same place.

Instead of whining for pages and pages on the forums why not do the right thing and just make a troublecall?

I think everyone can agree that WIS is slow to move on anything. I've only been playing this game for about half a year but since I've started playing there may have been one change if I'm correct and that was the player avg promise loophole. I'm inclined to believe that this was brought to the forum because WIS would do little if nothing to resolve the situation. Why would they care if the culprits pay good money? And more money than an honest coach if you want to be real about it.

Cal_bears - there was a warning on the coaches corner to adhere to fair play guidelines earlier this year. Did not mention collusion specifically.

They absolutely care ... if someone is out and out cheating, they will usually take action.  One will certainly never know if they run directly to the forums as the first action.
