Yourself As an HD Player Topic

I remember someone doing this long ago, but I thought it would be interesting to do again, and maybe even with added twists, like IQ in certain O's and D's and potential (if you have any left, as I know there's a wide age range on this site).

I'll do myself as best I can:

Height: 5'6"
Weight: 140

ATH: 20 - High
SPD: 35 - Average
REB: 15 - Average
DEF: 30 - High

BH: 50 - High
PASS: 40 - Average

FT: B - High
TOTAL: 380

IQ's:

Anyone else want to try evaluating themselves as an HD player?

Based on my knowledge of basketball, and comparing this kid to the many others I have evaluated over the years....
I'd say this is possibly the laziest guy, or most out of shape dough-boy I have ever seen.
He "thinks" he is what the kids call a "Playa", I saw him with another players mom after the game.
He reminds me of a slightly MORE hairy "Teen-Wolf"..
He's basically like a black-hole out there on the court... if you pass the ball near him it just never comes back.
I saw a kid drop a $20 bill on the floor and he put his foot on it.... then dragged his leg like he had something wrong with it until he could stoop down and get the cash. Pretty smart this one, I was actually envious I hadn't thought of that.
He seems to be into the material stuff pretty heavy, He was wearing a white suit, hat, with a cane, after the game. Looked like a pimp.
He kept hummin that song... "baby don'tcha wanna love me sexy"....

I was trying to decide if I should do now, or when I was in high school. I'll do both I suppose. It's only a 10 year difference. HS listed first then now

ATH- 65/50 (Bum knees)

DU- 60/20

Flex-A ( I don't understand how every person in the game isn't an A in Flex. It's so simple)
Motion- A (It's all we did back in the day. Coach was a huge Bobby Knight fan)
Triangle -F/B+. ( Didn't know what it was in HS. Worked for a college team that played it later)
FB- B+ ( Again not sure how more people aren't B or better. Run your lane)

Man- A. ( All we ever did)
Zone- Zones are for *******
Press- F/A ( As a player I was clueless and no stamina. As a coach this is my specialty)

My basketball career peaked during my FR year in HS. My size was still dominant back then, played PF/C and I got pretty good range, able to drain a 3 here and there on designed pick and roll plays. Once I lost my height advantage, my game went down the drain. Got the eye and passing ability, but really can't dribble to save my life.

Everyone seems to think highly of their passing ability. I bet the people you played with didn't always share the same opinion!

Old man is old now, but I was playing my best ball in my early 30's when I still ran regularly against college and ex-college players. SG trapped in a PG's body, but I was quick and could shoot and defend with gusto:

Ive only been playing basketball for about 5-6 years (junior in high school to just graduated colloege) but most people I have played with were surprised when I told them that. Never played on a real team with a coach and am entirely self taught as a player. If theres one thing I can do well its pass the ball. Think perfect full court bounce passes through 2 defender for an easy lay in. I love making an entry pass to the post just close enough so the defender thinks he has a chance and goes for the ball and then misses, is out of position, and gets scored on.

height is already factored in...

I do admire the coaches that think they're B+/A FT shooters.

You do realize that means you should shoot 80-85% in game situations which would mean you better be at least 90-95% in practice.

Back in the old days it wasn't uncommon for me to hit 40+ FTs in a row during practice but I probably was no better than a B+ rating for games.
