cburton & tkimble's posts are good arguments as to why I've argued that walk-ons in this game should be in the 350-370 range (for DIII, and higher in DII and DI) and not as bad as they always end up being.
between 2000 and 2006, I worked part-time at a community rec center where we had a smattering of DIII players come in, and even a coupled DII and DI guys. I would play pick-up games with them sometimes. I could hang with the DIII guys that played. they were definitely better than me, but I didn't embarrass myself against them.
I was in my mid 20s when I worked there, and i'm of decent athletic ability - 6'2", 185 lbs, but i'd only played one year of organized basketball. i'd probably be in the 350-360 rating range in WIS, but with low IQs. if someone of decent athletic ability can hang with DIII players, I've always argued there's no reason walk-ons in this game should be so crappy.
