Can't get recruits to stop considering me Topic

Have withdrawn offers and informed of redshirt, and still have 2 recruits that won't drop me even though I did not spend much money on them at all.

Ticket-worthy?

that happens - especially if the recruits are easy targets for you - it means they dont mind the redshirt - now without a schollie on the table they may stop considering you after a while - faster if someone else comes after them

but they just like your school

Same just happened to me today, I've never had guys consider me for so little, that still love me with no offer, and a redshirt.

Hmmm...these guys love you long time?  Be careful with that.  Just sayin.

They can like you all they want, as long as you pulled the scholly, there is no harm in them liking you.

In D1 there is beefpac. It makes you look weak to have 10 guys considering you.  Like you can't defend "your" guys.

If all the girls are crazy about you, then there's a chance the one you really want won't get with you because she thinks you sleep around too much.

Or, for a better analogy, there's a chance that someone else will make a move for her because they can tell her she's their only girl.

Really?? I almost think the opposite.  Certainly there's a case to be made that misleading others as to who your real targets are is a good thing. horrible english but a potentially good strategy.

I think the same applies in other divisions, not just D1.   Speaking for myself (D2/D3), if I'm in a recruiting battle with someone I'm far more likely to back off if they don't have as many players considering them as they have scholarships and they have NT bonus money;  conversely, if they're over-recruiting I'm going to stay on that kid until something happens.

i hear that view. but much like poker, sometimes it's best to keep the other person off balance. especially if you're in a bigger pattern of recruiting against the same old people who know you. deceptive moves can be the best - keep the other guy off balance. if i've got a war going on against gonzaga and we have our eye on the same two players, if we both have four players considering both of us, they're more likely to think that they have to defend all four. including the other two guys i'm not interested in.

i'm sure it's just a circumstantial argument, depends on who you're facing, who you want, etc. i'm just saying that there are definitely times where having misinformation out there, where the other coach isn't sure what you're actually doing, can definitely be beneficial.
