If its not going to be a major effect, its just window dressing that needlessly complicates the game.

Half of the tabs and boxes dealing with recruiting aren't major, but altogether it adds something.  I'd rather do away with favorite school and distance and add something that gives us more control.

And getting an advantage at a particular HS that may or may not have a decent player in the next 10 seasons is more control?

I control whether I recruit a certain player from a certain high school.  Is it random that a player I want would pop up there again?  Sure, but it's certainly more likely to happen if I recruit regionally.

So yes, some, albeit minimal, control is more than the zero control we have over favorite school and distance preferences.

I agree that statewide pipelines probably would help BCS schools.  I think it's much more likely that HS pipelines help the mid-majors (and it would be fun in D2/D3).

I agree with reinsel -- I don't see much benefit, and think that it's needlessly complicated. And certainly I wouldn't want WIS spending one iota of time or energy on something like this before many, more pressing items were properly addressed.(Not to mention that I could probably rattle off a dozen small upgrades thatI'd vastly prefer over this one.)

Just my two cents.

Sure.  I'm not advocating priority status.  I don't think it would complicated for us (it wouldn't take much more than flipping to the office page to see where people went to HS), although I agree that it's not worth a lot of time if the coding is particularly difficult.

*If* I was in support of this idea, I would say it should be a 'region', not a school or state.  For example, take all of the schools in the San Luis Valley, Colorado, or Douglas County, Colorado, or Denver Public Schools.  This is more realistic and compensates for the density (example, there may be more recruits generated in Douglas County (30 miles or so wide) than the entire San Luis Valley (150 miles or so wide) every season.  This also gives the 'help' to regional recruiting and small schools in the country that can 'defend' a region they go to.

Pipeline is not a good idea. Suppose Duke signed 1 player per year from LA on some random choice just to fill the final spot, and end up with pipeline for Louisiana. That would really disadvantage other schools, such as LSU.
1 player isn't considered having a pipeline

a pipeline state is when you  have multiple players on your team from that state, i think it should be a minimum of 3 from one state in order to qualify as having a pipeline

agree with this - some population based unit - inside and outside the USA'

and then a higher level bonus when it is the same high school
