Why Does Alaska never have Divison 1 players? Topic

This makes zero sense.  Yes, I know there are zero D-1 schools in Alaska, but there aren't D-1 schools in Canada or Ethiopia either.

I think it's a disservice to players like Carlos Boozer and Trajan Langdon that Alaska is not represented at all by recruits!

It also hurts West Coast schools!

Why not add a D-1 player from Alaska once in awhile?

Too damn cold to go on a recruiting trip up there.

No DI schools - recruits are allocated based on schools by division

of course, the above answer begs the question - why does Puerto Rico have DI players......Alaska should be as useful for Pac coast schools as Puerto Rico is for the florida schools

The same reason Utah doesn't have DIII players or The LA metro area is loaded...I hate it.  But you all know that and that "regional" recruiting would more fun...

Puerto Rico is an international country. Same as Canada. They aren't states.

Even though some of y'all might think my home country of Canada is a state (we are our own country, I can assure you of that).

I don't think of you as one state... maybe 5.  :)

Hahaha, fair enough asher.

I don't believe that Alaska should be treated like a foreign country in HD, like Canada and Puerto Rico. Should adhere to same recruit generation as the other states.

I'm a Bulls fan - you can keep the eggnog for yourself and you'll still lose him til march.  And when he comes back you'll wish he hadn't.

You're Canadian, so I can perhaps forgive your misinformation, but Puerto Rico isn't a country at all (international or otherwise, though wtf is an "international country"?).

We *do* officially own Puerto Rico (it is a territory of the United States).

i believe he meant "foreign" country and if my memory serves me correctly, the US Supreme Court expressly held that PR was not a foreign country bc (as zbrent pointed out) PR is a US territory.

In social studies, we were told that PR would become the 51st state at some point.  Just a matter of time.  That was 30 years ago.
