I'm trying to take stock of all the places I've recruited ... a bunch of crappy hotel business centers and internet cafes in Europe, the Middle East and South America. I also fondly remember the time I was highly intoxicated at a close friend's loud, crowded engagement party ... it was a literal blizzard outside, so I had to resort to screaming into my phone in the middle of the party at a buddy who had never been on the WIS site before, trying to help him navigate through the email messages and recruiting tools. High comedy.

Before I had an IPhone, there were also numerous times I'd be dining out with my wife, and would go to the bathroom long enough to call a buddy, have him log into my account and tell me, "Yep, it still just says, 'Considering Us'" before hurrying back to the table.

Most recently, we went on what was supposed to be the final big vacation before having our first kid early next year. The deal was no work stuff, no cell phones, just relaxing. The day before we left, my wife sheepishly asked if she could bring her laptop, "Just in case". Ever the good and generous husband, I agreed. And of course I figured that my generosity bought me just enough computer time each day to log in and check my teams for five minutes ... that, my friends, is what we call a win-win.

These are some great stories.

Once I was doing surgery, and there was only 10 minutes left to recruit the first wave of drop-downs (this was DII, long ago).  I purposely contaminated myself so I could run to my office and recruit before scrubbing back in.

The patient lived, and I landed the #119 PG.  It was a big day for both of us.

I've heard stories of doctors doing some funny things during surgery, but intentional contamination wasn't one of them.  That's funny and scary at the same time.

my gf does not understand why i enjoy this game at all. luckily i work overnight (like right now) and do most of my stuff when she's sleeping. the only time that doesn't work is during recruiting. i once recruited at a funeral. i'm a little ashamed of that. i do most of it on my phone now... with large bursts overnight while all of you are sleeping.

During the most recent recruiting period in Tark I had to deal with multiple Christmas dinners for both my family and my wife. So I quickly learned the only time I would get peace from my wife and our family was if I took my phone to the bathroom with me. On the last day of recruiting I had lost out on a top notch SF recruit and while I was in the bathroom I said "****" and when I came out of the bathroom all the family members outside the bathroom were staring at me.... It was awkward

I can only imagine what they thought I was doing

Great story!  You should've said, "I can't do a thing with my hair today."

After winning my first national championship (D2) i was able to move up to El Paso (CUSA). I immediately went online and ordered a El Pas touque from the El Paso student store.

As you may have noticed i referred to it as a touque. Yes I'm Canadian. No i never figured out how to explain to people what El Paso was or why i had something from there.

I just showed this thread to my wife.  A frightened look of recognition came over her face as she backed away, nodding her head "I think I understand now".

I showed this to my wife too and she said, "That's great. Now I don't have to pay for you to come to Europe with me this summer."

My wife grew up in Bakersfield CA. Her family all still lives there. (We don't) I enjoy telling her where I have applied to and she humors me and makes a big deal about it and how the move will be to that area. I once applied to Cal Bakersfield... she told her mother I would be coaching there next season... Mom ( a little slow to get it sometimes), then e-mails my Brother-in-law... an actual Professor at Cal / Bakersfield at the time... I would coaching their B-Ball team next season... That one was a little embarrasing to try to explain away... needless to say, my wife's family is Very impressed with how successful a guy their sister married.

I coach Gonzaga... in one world... and have lots of Zags stuff and am proud of it.
I coach Stanford in another world (only because of the high Baseline prestige and I like titles, which aren't possible right now @ Zaga), Have never told my wife... the Cali girl I coach them... nor would I ever consider wearing their crap.

I just moved up to D1 for the first time (Xavier), and now I watch every Xavier game because I want to see how my flex offense and my +2 man to man defense looks. :)
