I subsmitted this ticket:

In the last 7 seasons, my Drury team (Crum)  has a NT record of 18-6 (two RUs, four Sweet 16).  We were rebuilding this season and missed the NT with a 9-19 record.  I expected my A+ prestige to drop but not a full letter to B+.

Comparing my NT record over those 7 seasons  to other B+ schools:

Gannon  0-4
Lynn      2-5
Ft. Hays  1-3
Holy Family 3-2 (only played in TWO NTs)
No. Florida 3-6
St. Michael's  0-5
SE Oklahoma 1-4

Either: 1) the most current season is valued too much, or 2) NT resume isn't valued enough.

There's not a coach, player or fan in America who wouldn't consider an 18-6 NT record more prestigious than 0-5.

I urge you to alter your prestige formula to more accurately reflect real life.

Thanks

This happened with deweycox's Rockhurst team in Iba. Exact same prestige drop.

I wonder if it has to do with prestiege now going back 10 seasons. Or does that 10 seasons just have to do with the job hiring process?

Even so that does seem to be a bit obsessive. I think we would all be very interested to see what CS has to say about this.

Wow...talk about a case of what have you done for me lately!

I believe the below .500 record may have an effect.

If he was at .500 or above and didn't make the tournament, he probably would've dropped to just an A-

Yeah but with that history, that is absolutly crazy. Something is really wrong if that is the case.

Problem is that they are weighing most recent season ridiculously too much in D2/D3.

Al, this would never happen in DI.

And pajama, the 10-yr window is just for jobs.

Their response would be that prestige fluctuates much more in D2 than DI.  I went from B to C- one year at Valdosta (same conference), IIRC.

happens every time when you miss the NT and PIT:

It's embarrassing that this is the best they can do for a prestige system. Embarrassing.

There are some flaws at DI, but if this is how it's handled at D2/D3, someone should get their dog (or a poorly-trained monkey) to revamp and improve it. Good lord.

True.  My Pitt-Greensburg team made the NT 35 seasons in a row before missing both tournaments last season, and we dropped from A+ to B+.  Thought it was a little harsh.

I heard from WIS:

"Thanks so much for the comments. The Knowledge Base article # 779 provides as much detail as possible about how the system works. We understand that the prestige system isn't totally perfect, but it works as it's currently designed, so we're no longer investigating specific situations."

I responded:

I'm sure that the system is working properly.  The logic behind is is seriously flawed.

I'm not asking you to investigate my particular situation. I'm asking that you change the design. Surely you agree that an 18-6 NT record over 7 seasons is more prestigious than 0-5.

Keep pushing them, al. That's the only way that anything gets done.
