I'm currently at Alcorn State in Phelan, just finished 29-2 and got bumped from C to B- (I'm certain it's a weak B-). With 5 SRs graduating and the other returning 7 very weak (I cut a bunch of players, and ended up signing 4 players on 2 scholarship budget twice), I'm certain I will not be able to replicate my success from this season. So the question is, do I move to a Big 6 conf now?
Obviously, if I can move into a team with similar prestige, it's a no brainer. Problem is, every team I qualify for is C prestige and in not so desirable areas. HI in the PAC 10 is open but it's Hawaii, and it ends up being luck of the draw (and any top notch 4-5 star will be taken by Stanford, Cal, etc.).
Baylor is open as well but Baylor is coming off 1-26 season, in a weak B12 (little post season cash), while TX is pretty stacked with a bunch of Bish teams and strong MWC.
Washington State (B-) is open but it's a longshot/keep looking. Washington State is a massive rebuild with 11 scholarships. Like Hawaii, I'm stuck in a remote region in a stacked Pac-10, although, the postseason cash is nice. I probably won't qualify even if I apply but if I do qual, I'm in a tough recruiting spot.
New Mexico (C+) from the strong MWC is open, but is a longshot/keep looking. Area is not ideal like Alcorn in MS but I wouldn't mind it. The problem is, this is the MWC, not Big 6, and whether I qualify is questionable. Conf could easily take a hit with coaches moving to Big 6 conf in the coming seasons while I try to build up my resume.
So the question is, do I move up now or stay another 2-3 seasons to recruit with my B- and land 2 more NT births (I'm certain next season, I'm not NT bound unless I get very lucky in recruiting and land a bunch of great 2 stars/3 stars)
