Do you mean overall, or specifically from 3-point range? Because if you take out his sketchy 3-point shooting, he hit 51.7% of his shots last season, and would be at 47% (not super great, but still early in the season) this season.

W. Kentucky game was against 2-3 zone (0 & -2); Air Force played -4 on him; TCU started -1, switched to +1, thought he did alright (13 pts); Cal Santa Barbara -1 but he scored 12 against a weaker defender (not bad); Maryland +2'd you, but their PF was a strong defender and he still put in 12; Arizona +1'd you, but again a tough man to man defending PF for the other team. Looks to be doing fine to me as you appear to be balancing your team distro. Only thing I see is if you know they are packing it in or against a zone you may want to move him to a "zero" perimeter setting. That 72 perimeter should work well against that. Good luck!

Why is your Power forward shooting multiple threes a game?

He runs a Flex offense and those are pretty good speed/perimeter numbers for a PF. I also run a Flex in this world, and have had guys like this hit over 40% from downtown over a season. They usually don't become efficient until they get their IQ up to about where this kid is now, though.

I can tell you haven't been divison-1. Thanks for the help Prof. While i agree taking out his 3PT distro his overall FG% would rise, but i still feel like his 2PT FG% is still lacking. I've had far worse average 10PPG at a better FG%.

13 seasons, some success at VMI, less so at the others, quite a few seasons back.  Dropped the team with money concerns, then the other team I got to division two with I liked to conference too much to move up, pretty much the same with my other d2 team, and there are a couple I leave in d3 because each level has some different challenges.  And yes, I had a power forward at VMI that shot three pointers fairly well.   Still,  the amount of three pointers he is shooting seems a bit excessive.

He has no game with the ladies?

I would have set him to -2, but that's just me.

with that ath/speed i'd set him at -1 or -2 and just let him foul out the other team. no reason he shouldn't twice as many ft's... that plus taking out the bad 3pointers should get him above 12 points a game easy.... not bad seeing how loaded your team is.

He's leaving at least a point a game at the line.  He's shooting 65% from the FT line.  Would you be concerned if he were averaging 11 ppg instead of 10?  He also leads your team in TOs.

I really could careless about his PPG to be honest with you here. This isn't my cause of concern. It is more his efficiency that is bothering me. **edit** i greatly appreciate the input from all.

For me, then it's not shooting percentage at all.  It's FT% and TOs that are dropping his efficiency.

last season he shot over 50% from 2 point land as a soph, and his sample size on 3s was too small to make much of. assuming you played a solid schedule (seems fair based on rpi), thats really not that bad for a soph. i think its low, but within the normal range.

this season, you've played 7/8 games on the road, against a decent schedule. i don't know how he will do, but right now, sample size is definitely a factor. if 2 of his 3s and 2 of his 2s went in, you'd be looking at 51% fgs and 44% threes. you wouldn't even blink twice if those were his numbers, i am guessing at least? if that was the expected outcome, his actual outcome is very much in the normal range. that is the problem with trying to make adjustments early, but you got to try to make them sooner than later! (i think you are looking at the right time FWIW).

your starting guards have a little low passing, but the team makes up for it so well, i really can't see a problem there. i honestly don't see any reason this player should be performing poorly, i'd say its one of those things you just have to keep an eye on as the season progresses. as of right now, his performance is in the normal range.

as always, much appreciated coachBG. very good point about the small sample size of this season.
