Idk where all this confusion comes from. You can sign a player for $120, promise start + PT, and scholarship.

You really think a team with that track record is promising starts and minutes to new recruits on a regular basis?

Huh.  Wouldn't think you would be able to win all that easily with two starting freshmen in the same year.  Stand corrected.  Never would have even thought to look for that.

You start them in the regular season, bench them for the NT. This way, he maximizes player development so these same frosh play better in the NT, and in the coming years, are better and more ready to play major minutes as JR/SRs. This is how he is able to win year in and year out without any real down years. It's pretty standard stuff.

Look at any of the consistent E8/F4 or better teams in D3. You should be seeing similar stuff.

The question is, how do you avoid the regular season losses while starting them?

use target minutes for depth chart. a player can be a starter and play 7min/game.

Obviously you can sign guys at D3 with just a schollie and a promise (or two). I've done that plenty of times. But I'm surprised someone can consistently get top-flight, NT-winning talent with that strategy. I would have guessed that elite recruits would have more competition and therefore require a lot more $.

I have already revealed alot of recruiting strategy. As for how to make this method work perfectly, you have to figure it out yourself.

If he waited until after signings started, when the cost per state is MUCH cheaper, he could easily scout 18-20 states.  The downside to this is that you run the risk of the best talent being signed already, but at D2-D3 there are usually players of comparable talent still left.  Plus, when you add in the fact that players can be signed for less than a couple of hundred bucks, it makes it even more feasible.   It ain't rocket science......
