Do character concerns matter?

Not at all. Its a leftover from the very early days of HD. There used to be dilemmas where kids would get in trouble and you had to discipline them but they were widely hated and dropped from the game.

Thanks.

Because they didn't add anything to the game. You had players that would be suspended for missing class or other random crap and it was never a positive thing.

i dont understand why everyone makes such a big deal about student athletes going to class. what about student non athletes? i never went to class, and i was fine. plus, if i had to go to class every day i probably would have died from a drug overdose. i just don't understand what the fuss is all about!

You were given a scenerio such as "Player X was late for practice. He claimed he was on the phone with his sister who just had a baby." or "Player Y punched a student who cut in in front of him for a parking space." Then you were given choices for punishment such as "Run extra laps", "One game suspension", or "Cut from team". Based on your choices, you were given a coach rating ranging from something like "Let boys be boys" to "Prison Warden". This supposedly hurt/helped your chances of recruiting certain types of players. It was annoying although somewhat realistic. The real problem though was that you were only given a limited amount of time to make a decision. Many coaches complained that they couldn't always check in to see if there was an issue to deal with. If I remember right, there was also a penalty of some type for not making a decision and many coaches complained that they were being unjustly penalized. This was the real reason they canned it.

Thanks for the explanation Weena.  It seems to me, that the fix should have been to have adjustable default punishment settings.   Then you could have until the next game to manually alter the punishment in each individual case.

I just signed a guy who "got into it with his coach about pulling him out of a game early", is in the drug scene in that "his mom is in AA and his dad is Gamblers Anonymous", and the AD commented "Well, I guess you're willing to risk the reputation of the school...Do you like the administration breathing down our necks?  I don't."  It would be great if those comments meant something.

Yeah. All this stuff just makes me say "......."

I really like your suggestion. It puts meaning behind these otherwise pointless, useless, and frustrating comments.

Dilemmas were awful...good riddance.  WIS is my escape from reality. I didn't like dealing with problem kids here.

Yes, character issues do matter. You want to load your team up with as many problem kids as possible. It makes your team more interesting.

Wow, I'm sorry I wasn't around then. Character issues would make things more realistic and irritating. Just like real life!

doesn't character have something to do with whether a player accepts booster gifts, goes early entry to nba, or will accept a redshirt without consequences when prior notification not given?
