Things That Bother Me Topic

I read all the play-by-plays for my teams and here's what I have issues with:

1) Tip-ins of 3 point misses.

Is it possible to tip-in a missed 3, sure. Does it happen nearly as after IRL as it does in the SIM. Hell to the no.

2) Offensive rebounds of missed free throws.

This seems to have changed over the past few months. It's much more prevalent now than it used to be.

3) Backcourt violations and 10 second violation frequency.

Both of these are rarities IRL, happen all the damn time in the SIM.

4) Lack of assists.

Seems like the league leader in the SIM is around 5.5 - 6 APG. That would be good for around 25th best IRL.

Quite a few more out there. Like 3 PT% being sky high as well. Blocks should go up a bit and fouls should go down.

5) Giving up a tying 3 while playing +5 defense in the last minute. Opponents hit about 35% against me playing a defense that is supposed to do everything possible to effectively shot off the 3 pt shot along the entire perimeter. Silly IMO.

Bigs handling the ball in the backcourt - often.

This nasty itch....I mean I agree with you.

About the lack of assists per player, but I think per team is alright?

Good point. Maybe more precisely is that assists seem to be not dependent enough on passing rating combined with IQ. It's a factor, but 99 passers with great IQ and good scorers around them should have significantly more assists than the current engine produces.

a couple of my favorites to add:

too many non shooting fouls in the last 4 seconds of games.
the inability to get anything other than a half court heave with anything less than 5 seconds on the clock

It's even better when your opponent goes 3 for 3 against the +5 in the last minute.

The impeccable success with which "Quick Shot" offense is able to get the ball up court without error against a press.

Nothing thrills me more than to force 25 turnovers in the first 39 minutes and then see my opponent miraculously get the ball up the floor four consecutive trips in 4 or fewer seconds and launch off three-point shorts, never once throwing a bad pass, having the ball stolen or anything that would indicate playing with recklessness other than the reduced time frame of getting shots off.

I've long said if I was ever allowed to play "quick shot" for a full game as opposed to "fastbreak" I'd do it in a heartbeat.

...Starters having their MPG cut by 1/2 when they pick up 2 or more fouls in the 1st half.

I think the discussion was about the sim not college basketball in general.

Ditto. Just look at Jared Sullinger against Syracuse. He sat on the bench most of the first half because he picked up two fouls early. Alternatively, if you don't want your starters to sit with two fouls you could set them to the "More Aggressive" setting on the Player Game Plan page.

I understand all that. I just has a game where my top-rated player got 2fouls in the 1st four minutes, then sat until about 3 min left. That works. He picked up a 3rd in the last minute. We were down 24 at that point. He didin't start the 2nd and only played about 7 minutes total of the 2nd half. even on a "normal" setting, I thought that was off-kilter.

Garger, set all your rotation players to "more agressive." This will take care of your playtime issue for foul troubled players.

The first half makes sense. The second half, you were down 24, a blowout. On the Team Game Plan, do you have "When losing, and out of reach, rest starters and play backups?" checked off?  (or whatever the exact wording is).

That could be a possible reason why he only played 7 minutes in the 2nd half.

well we scored 61 pts in the 2nd and had it down to 8 at one point b4 losing by 11. I dunno, it just didn't seem right. Thanks to everyone for the advice.
