Redshirting an ineligible? Topic

If I sign a redshirt and put on the shirt when he becomes eligible, can I still get 4 full playing seasons out of him?? Thanks.

Players get 5 seasons max, 4 playing seasons, unless they get a medical redshirt (which I have never heard of happening in WIS)

the system simply will not allow a redshirt on a nonqualifier - at DI

Ineligible players can play right away in D3.

I believe so. They become regular 4 yr players once the players report to campus I think...

At Division-I, you can't redshirt an ineligible, but if he misses a full season and if qualifies, he CAN come back for a 5th year.  They don't always qualify and if they are not getting playing time they will not come back, but most (more than 50%) of the ones I have signed have played for 4 years (meaning they came back for a 5th year).
