Georgia coach Mark Fox dispelled the rumors linking him to the Kansas State job, or any other,  with a cleverly worded tweet on Wednesday afternoon.

"I grew up in Kansas but I plan to grow old in Georgia. Any rumor mentioning me w/another job is false. GO DAWGS!"

I agree, Fox took such a risk by leaving Nevada and moving cross-country to take the Georgia job, I believe the only way he leaves is if he gets fired.

Hard to believe that there were protesters when Bruce Weber was announced as K-State's new coach.  I know Illinois dropped off a little the last couple of years, but Weber is a very good coach and I think the change in scenery will suite him and K-State well. There were boosters threatening to drop season tickets and even former star Jacob Pullen was critical of the Weber signing.  Way to back your team! This is a good program but let's face it: no National Titles; 4 Final Fours, but the last one was 48 years ago; and they have only gotten past the first two rounds once in the last 30 years. Were they expecting Patino or Krzyzekski?  I hate fans and players who think they are better than they are.  This is a good hire for K-State and their fans need to back the program.  I think with Missouri gone Weber can make K-State one of the premier programs in the Big 12 and continue with the success they have had in the last 5 seasons.

Weber didn't win with his own players at Illinois.  He took Self's recruits to the Sweet 16 and Championship Game.

In his last 7 years at Illinois, he won 2 NCAA Tournament games.

Using your argument, Self didn't win with his own players at Illinois.  He took Kruger's recruits to the Elite Eight and Sweet 16.  And Kruger didn't win with his players.  He took Henson's recruits to the NCAA.

Except both Self and Kruger have won elsewhere with their own talent.  Kruger is a slightly more patient version of Larry Brown.  Weber has been to 1 Sweet 16 with players he recruited and it was 10 years ago with Southern Illinois.

I understand the concerns, Sully, I just don't buy the idea that you wipe out the first four seasons a coach steps into a job because he didn't recruit all the players.  If Weber steps in and loses in his first couple of seasons fans will blame him and say it's his fault.  If they win they won't give him credit.  No matter what kind of talent you have it still takes a very good coach to take a team deep in the tournament.  I like Weber. He is a tough nose guy, just like Huggins and Martin.  He knows how to coach and handle talent.  I think to your point, he may have to prove to some that he can recruit. I think this is a good fit. We'll see.

I see what you're saying.  I love, as a coach myself, stealing things I like from different NCAA coaches.  Presses - Pitino   1-3-1 - Beilein   Sets out of a time out - Izzo/Ryan  Managing momentum - Calhoun   I could go on and on from my notebook.  I have been taking notes for 6 years now and haver been impressed enough by 1 thing Weber has done to write anything down.  I don't harbor any ill will toward him, I just think he is more suited for the mid major coaching ranks.

the move I see as somewhat suprising is Jim Christian leaving TCU for the Ohio University job.

He does have history in the MAC at Kent State, but he's leaving a team that will be in the Big 12.

Ohio U. loves their basketball. At TCU, it's an afterthought from football.  TCU has a point system. Students earn points for every basketball game they attend as long as they stay 30 minutes.  They earn prizes as they accumulate points.  That's pathetic.

Akron coach Keith Dambrot has told Duquesne that he's not interested in their coaching job.  His father played at Duquesne in the 50's.   Dambrot has been at Akron since 2004, leading the Zips to a 184-87 record and 2 NCAA berths. He was Lebron James' high school coach before going to Akron

COLORADO ST.
Long Beach State's Dan Manson has said he's not interested in the Colorado St. job.  Others on their short list are:  Wayne Tinkle (Montana); Scott Nagy (So. Dakota st.); Randy Rahe (Weber St.); Ray Giolcetti (Gonzaga asst); Mike Dunlap (St. Johns' asst.); and Craig Smith (interim CSU coach)
