I never said LIU has signed a top 100 player, but there have been schools at the same prestige level that has signed someone. Loyola Marymount signed Bo Kimble and Hank Gathers both who were highly touted HS players is an example that I can think of off the top of my head.
(A) That was over 20 years ago.
(B) It's not true. Gathers and Kimble went to USC, coach got fired after one season, they transferred to LMU.
(C) Your LIU squad is not on par/comparable w. late 80's Loyola Marymount.
There are very rare instances where a top 100 player picked an obscure school without any history of winning basketball. Adonal Foyle comes to mind, but of course that was also ~ 20 years ago, and his parents were profs at Colgate. More recently, I think that Harvard has signed 1-2 fringe top 100 guys, but again, Harvard right now is clearly steps ahead of LIU, so it's still not analagous.
Beyond the factual stuff, I really disagree re: the battles/boring part -- you may just be shooting too low. I see plenty of battles for teams in your prestige range, and often for good players.
