Nice rage.  Did you change your mind or did someone take it?

I am assuming it was his first round loss in Smith tonight.  Not in that world so cant tell if it was a 1 and 16 game but figured it was bad.

Yeah... I briefly logged in just to see what he was upset about. He indeed lost to a 16 seed. Brutal.

Hopefully he changed his mind though...and will give the game another try after he cools down.

Ya, kinda, I realized that I had much bigger plans for this account.

Dont worry about it nacho. I had back-back 1 seeds in d2, and lost in the first and second round in consecutive years! stuff happens.

and still not as bad as losing to a 16 in d1

i have lost to a 16 seed as a 1 seed, i think i was 1 overall too. im pretty sure i read OR say hes lost a 1v16 too. you get enough 1 seeds - you are bound to lose. that 1v16 matchup, save for d1 to some extent, is no where near as drastic as in real life. so, i wouldnt make too much of it if i were you.

when i was in about my 3rd season ever of d1, I had an pretty un-talented team with high IQs (started 1-9, seniors were sim recruits).  I was in a mid major.  won the CT by knocking off a bunch of sims.  Went to the NT with a sub-.500 record.  by far the 4th 16 seed.  just threw in a slowdown/-5, tweaked distro, and expected to lose by 40 to Texas (ranked #1, RPI top 3, etc, etc).  Somehow won.   I was so sure I would have lost that I didn't even check until about 4 days later, and I couldn't believe it.  The guy who was coaching Texas quit playing.  just some insane fluke of random numbers - hate to see people quit over that stuff

I was undefeated going into the NT in the beginning of the game and had a team that was superior in talent...... the older coaches will probably remember my NC Wesleyan dominance..... and lost in the 1st round to a 16 seed and got blown out despite having superior talent.

I know how ticked off I was.... I'm sure the forum enjoyed my rant over it as well.  I had several heated forum threads about the game back in those days.  I can't wait to start my next one..... come on WIS give me a reason to go crazy.... the noobs want to see it.. lol :)

I came within one point once of BEING the sixteen seed that knocked off a one seed.   Didn't pay attention soon enough and had been handed a one vs sixteen seed first round NT game against Pitino in my own conference.  I was really shocked to see a one point loss.  That was not one of my better teams.

Correct.  There's much less difference in WIS between the seeds.

nacho's team currently has an RPI of 6.   The #16 seed that defeated him, Incarnate Word, is RPI 55.

In real life, that correlates to #6 Ohio State and #55 Northwestern. On Feb. 6, Ohio St. defeated Northwestern 75-73

I have lost to a 16 in DI three times. One time was to a sim. I was number 1 overall one of those times.

If 16 seeds are upsetting 1 seeds this frequently (it actually happened twice this season in DII Smith) then what is the point of wasting time on this site if luck has such an overbearing role on how games are decided?

I've been saying this for years now, but the way fouls are determined by the sim is completely whacked out.

The point is that it's not so much luck, it's that 1 seeds are much closer in talent to 16 seeds in hd than in real life. Sometimes it's luck, sometimes not. But combine the fact that there are A TON more 1 v 16 matchups in hd with the smaller talent gap and ou get some upsets.

The difference between a one and a sixteen is much smaller here than in real life and. . .

More tournament games are statistically played in short periods here than have EVER been played in the history of the game.   More one versus sixteen seed games have been played BY FAR.  I mean, there have only BEEN sixteen seeds IRL since 1985.  27 years.  So there have been a grand total of  432 1v16 games in real life.  Arguably, you could say that REAL LIFE is suffering from a small sample size compared to the sim
