I'm not "grandstanding about  cheating", by the way. As this is only my second season I was seeking opinions from more-experienced coaches on how they felt about that situation. Obviously some can't give constructive opinions, but I've read enough entries on the Forums to expect that. I'm looking to stick around and just wanted to know if multiple teams in the same world was commonplace.

I would have no issue with it if it didn't give them a recruiting advantage.  If somebody has a D1 team and a D3 team in the same world it would be a ridiculous recruiting advantage.  His D3 team could scout a ton of players while people who play by the rules could only scout a couple states at most.  Would it be possible to make it so that if D1 coaches scout a state that they don't get information on players that are D3 level?  Wouldn't that mirror real life?  I doubt Izzo knows what some D3 recruit from Appleton Wisconsin is like even if he has been checking out big time players in the state.

I happen to think it's giving him an unfair advantage. Plain and simple. Whether it's "cheating" depends on one's opinion, I believe.

*It's off the subject, but I have to ask-Why is it so difficult for some to post replies on the Forums without dropping a "STFU" or a "You suck" or some other smart-a@# answer? I was simply trying to get some opinions, that's all. People complain about growing this game...why would anyone new to HD want to ask a question when they're going to get talked-down to or told to STFU?  Just my two cents.

I'll back you up here EG3... for users who are new to this game, an argumentative atmosphere isn't going to make them any more likely to stick around and will probably hinder their learning experience. The forum posts are often very aggressive, and that's fine if it's with other experienced coaches, but as EG3 said, on a post like this directed toward a new user there's no need for it.

ya, my first go around I had a dialogue with WIS about something similar I saw...  the answer was something like most of the successful coaches do utilize multiple teams.  Kind of a joke if you ask me-- I would think the successful coaches that don't cheat (maybe there is none?) would be raising holy hell.  Either that, or we all need to be doing this.  I am thinking that those who don't "cheat" are in the small minority.
Isn't small minority kind of redundant?  And to make a blanket statement like you did is quite insulting.  Maybe there are no successful coaches who don't cheat?  Really?  Do you think you HAVE to cheat to be successful?  And saying that only a "small minority" of coaches don't "cheat"?  Who are you to judge other people?

who cares?  I really don't know why some of you just grandstand about "cheating"....STFU...so a guy has 2 or more teams in the same world...who cares?  You can't beat him? You suck.
WOW, where has Vegas Kevin been hiding. I have missed his fun-loving light-hearted jabs for so long.
This post just made me laugh out loud!

why do people use two account for?
It's almost like doubling your recruiting budget. They can scout certain states with one account, and then deifferent ones with the other. So they get double info for less money.
That is certainly not the only reason people have multiple accounts in the same world.  A lot of veterans with multiple accounts had them long before FSS was a part of the game.  I have 2 teams in Naismith, Wooden, Smith and Allen and once did in Tark.  I use multiple teams for either experimentation, competition (Allen has probably the strongest DI and DII conferences in the game and I enjoy both) and it lessens the number of times I have to check HD every 3 hours.
FWIW, I have two teams in Tark (this ID and my dcy0827 ID).  I have never tried to keep that a secret and I think most coaches are very open about naming alternate ID's if they are asked (although there have been a couple who tried to play ignorant, but eventually fessed up after they were called out with incontrovertible evidence).

Duke was always going to be my "destination" school and Northeastern State was my first ever D2 school in HD.  I wanted to keep Northeastern State simply because it WAS my first D2 school and for no other reason than that, but I also wanted to try for Duke at the same time.  I also enjoyed the two-a-day worlds better than the single game worlds and at the time Tark was the only two-a-day world going.  Doesn't mean I created one ID to "cheat" for the other and I'm actually quite offended that some people would suggest that.  Do coaches do that, use one ID to help another?  Sure, no need to be naive about it.  Does everyone?  Hardly.  But don't sit there and judge me and try to say that all coaches with multiple ID's cheat.

What if (pun intended) my son wants to challenge his old man and see if he can dethrone me from atop some hypothetical conference?  Should he not be allowed to try?  See, he doesn't have a credit card, so my credit card will be listed on both accounts.  You think that scenario has never come up?  What about husband and wife?  Two brothers, one with a card and the other not.  We could go on with these all day..........Really must suck to go through life so paranoid as to think that "everyone" has malicious intentions.

VegasKevin was a p**** who thought that he was better than everyone else and that his s*** didn't stink.  I'd be willing to be that the amount of people that miss him are far, far less than the amount of people who are glad that he's gone.

My post wasnt directed at anyone specifically, but if u think Free FSS is some kind of huge recruiting advantage, i think ur mistaken. You want to eliminate this kind of "cheating"...make FSS free to everyone, problem solved. "Cheating" or not, good coaches will always get good players, and if 137 users in D2 each had 2 teams in the same world, i would still play/enjoy/do well at this game because i still feel i could out-recruit, outplay, etc those regardless of the circumstances.

Also, if what i say (no matter how crass) is going to cause u to not want to play, maybe you shouldnt be here to begin with...users having multiple teams in the same world is small potatoes.

colonels, as usual, what you're saying isn't true. Free FSS is absolutely a significant recruiting advantage, particularly at D2/D3.

And colonels, as usual, I beg you ... stop making an argumentative *** of yourself. Not because I care on a personal level, but because as backboy said, it's flat out bad for the game, for users on the boards (especially new ones), etc.

It is kinda funny though, 'cause he attempts to present himself as this elite coach who can beat guys even if they advantages over him, yet he never wins anything.  Never been past a S16 IIRC, not bothering to check at the moment though I did just look at his Tark resume in another thread...

I recognize that I'm not the best coach in the world, but I'm also not saying "I still feel I could out-recruit, outplay, etc those regardless of the circumstances," even though I could easily out-recruit, outplay, etc colonels even if I had only library-based internet access.

Well that's ur opinion about Free FSS...helps u scout better and saves u 2-3k...not really that big a deal...i dont need to "cheat" to get mine, though ive engaged in that exact practice in the past. Again, u want to stop this "cheating" in hd, make FSS free to all...im all about solutions. The gameplanning "advantage" is even less and practically non existent.

Fair enough about ur second point, but if ur going to be turned-off about/by a factor of the game that you're not obligated to view to play/be successful, etc, then id make the argument that ur quitting for the wrong reason(s). This is far and away the best college basketball game on the planet.

LOL - you just admitted that you've shared FSS info between accounts...  Admin has explicitly stated that this is collusion and against the rules.  Sending a ticket now...

You're missing the keyword here...feel...i never said or suggested that i was an "elite" coach in this game, i feel that i recruit pretty well, but thaf better coaches can and will out-gameplan me. What i was saying was that even if everyone in this game was "cheating" that i'd still be playing/competing at the "disadvantage" because this game is that good.
