I have an A+ school in D3 and I am battling a B school from D2 for a recruit. Based on that information alone, which team would have the best chance of landing the prospect if they put forth the exact same recruiting effort? I had always heard that it was about a grade difference by going up a division - in other words a B prestige at D2 = an A prestige at D3. Also, I have heard that an A+ can have a fairly wide range, and my team is probably towards the upper ranges of the A+ since we have had two final fours, an Elite 8 and two Sweet 16s in the last 5 years.
That's not how I understand that "grade difference by going up a division" chapel -- I've always had it explained to me that going up from the top grade in the lower division it is a grade difference to get to the bottom of the grade scale for the next higher division. So from a D3 A to a D2 D is about the same as going from a B to an A within the same division. So in the example you cite, you'd be battling up not quite three letter grades (A+ d3 to D+ d2, D+ to C+ and then C+ to the B).
Not saying I'm correct in this interpretation, just saying that's how it was explained and illustrated to me many, many seasons ago.
