getting a recruit to NOT consider you Topic

I had a recruit that I sent a mere phone call and 3 scouting reports to decide that he would consider my school.  However, after seeing his potential, I don't want him.  I sent an inform of redshirt hoping to scare him off.  He was fine with it.  Are there any other ways to get him off my back?  I don't want anyone to attack me thinking that I have extra recruits to battle over.  I don't.  I have a good wad of cash, but would prefer to not get picked on because of the appearance that some loser wants to go to my school.

offer scholarship and then rescinding also carries negative value.

Interesting... Ive had this problem too but did not know this.

If it doesnt work though, I wonder if you can keep doing it until it does? That is, multiple offers and multiple times rescinding has multiple negative value?

The methods I know of have already been mentioned here (redshirt, rescind scholarship) but they aren't surefire.  I do wish there was a way to definitely make a player stop considering you.  I have been in the same situation before, especially scouting internationals.  After only 1-2 scouting trips, some scrub from Poland won't stop considering me, so I look like I've stretched myself too thin in recruiting, opening me up to other coaches trying to poach recruits I actually want to keep.

How about an "insult recruit's mother" option for $10?  Automatically ensures recruit will never consider your school again.

what's worse is that if nobody signs the kid, he may considering you again the following season... (this has happened to me)

I've actually started a recruiting period with someone I didn't even remember spending any effort on considering me.

Giving false hope to kids is cruel, it's like that one girl who planned out your marriage and life together just because you were nice to her one day and didn't realize she had some whacked out fixation on you ... and then you had to get a restraining order, and then you fear for your girlfriends life.
