Had a team ranked between 20-25 for 10 weeks or so and now they keep losing. They lost a non conference game they shouldn't have and like always whatifsports gives a plain Jane response "well anything is possible and we see nothing wrong on our end and good teams rise to the top." What a generic bunch of BS. Now 5 more losses later in conference and 3 at home. Yeah there is a couple solid teams in their but I.d be a 560 or higher without the walkon and I'm losing? Whatif has never explained or helped with anything... this game doesn't favor the better team. Also I'm losing to 1st yr coaches and CPU teams. Another joke! This game will fold in 5 yrs or less like every other sim does. Its a joke! Waste of time and $. When you have 4 players above 600 and the other team has 0 or 1 and you lose, that's ridiculous. Every solid team in the NCAA protects their home court for the most part vs lesser teams. Not in this game though.

Thanks for the encouraging words kyle, they are much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed your time in HD and wish you a long and prosperous coaching career.

kyle, one of the tough things is that you don't really know what you're doing. So there's that.

Kyle - All snark aside...that team just isn't that good.  It's a nice team, but it's a 15-6 team.  You played nobody good in non-con.  All of your losses are either to better teams or to comparable teams on the road.  Take a deep breath and re-look at the squad and you'll see that you really are what your record says you are.  You only have 1 win against a team with under 100 rpi for goodness sakes.  I suggest (assuming this is just the type of rant that we all have or feel like having from time to time) you schedule tougher in the non-con so you're better able to get a sense of how good/bad your team is before going into conference play.  It'll save a lot of stress in the long run.

All I can add is there is a learning curve to the game plus it takes time and patience to really understand how to improve a team and individual players. Your not the only coach to lose to sim coached teams sometimes they have more talent and you have don't like losing to them get more talent than they have. I'll admit I'm probably the worst coach in HD history so I got a mentor and tried to play in the toughest conferences I could find and got my *** waxed constantly until I followed advice and studied the game more. I'm still bad but on my way up and do understand why or why not or where I need to improve to get to where I want to go. Frustrattion is part of anything you do in life and especially with ficticious players and a sim engine. This game is really great and the best part is learning the game and taking hits as you go. I would suggest attack the game with help from the mentor list and think you might enjoy the game more once you ask the right questions and a level attitude.

I agree...two seasons experience makes most of what you say mere whining!  Your team is nice, but far from a D3 power.

So slow down, look to the forum post on "How to win at D2 and D3" and give it time.

kyle, I get your frustration. If you are interested in sticking with HD I strongly recommend finding a mentor. I agree that WiS does a ****** job of explaining how to play to new players, especially when contradictory and inaccurate info is still in the FAQ and Guide. That makes it even more important to find a mentor.

kyle, ignore the overall ratings. True, you have four players at 600+ but those ratings are misleading because of their high WE, ST, and DUR. WE and DUR don't really help much on the court.   You also have two guards with REB of 27 and 28, who are averaging 1 rebound/ game. So, that REB rating is raising your total rating but not contributing on the court.

I agree about the ratings. My team has won 3 of the last 5 NTs in Crum, and is highly ranked again. But my overall ratings are 9 points less than your team.

My guard, Bennett, is  619 but the points are in important areas, not REB, LP, or DUR

I do honestly appreciate the responses. I get I'd get waxed against a power house but my conference teams aren't great. Read the post in entirely. The 3 losses at home to losing to 2 lower teams on the road. The thing that's ticks me off the most is whatifs careless responses and they think people are goin to stick with this game? Obviously the similar thought I was good enough to be ranked for 10 weeks to only bend me over in conference. I could handle 12-9 in a tough conference but to many losses I couldn't disagree with more. I have read a ton of forums and I get I lack some in athleticism, but compare it to my competition and not last yrs national champ.

Kyle...your team is mediocre at best.  Your record is what it should be.  What response do you expect from WIS?  Learn more about how the game works before you come on here with your nonsensical crybaby rants.

kyle, I think your expectations for this team were clouded by the early ranking you received. I'm not trying to disrespect you, simply stating what I see here -- you don't have a top 25 team. All those conference losses are completely within the realm of plausibility -- the first three conference L's are against teams of comparable quality (not "lower teams"), the last couple of L's are because you're apparently trying to play with a nine man rotation and it's biting you. The only head-scratcher loss that's on your schedule is the non-con game against Alfred

Argue less, learn more that is my only advice to you.

This game has been around for plenty of years already and has a very loyal base so for you to say it won't last and won't keep players is just wrong.

You won't be the first person to come into this game, think you should be better but not really get why you aren't and just quit after 1-3 seasons and you won't be the last. But the game will keep on ticking with players who came in, took their lumps learned the game and improved

kyle, the rankings have been screwed up for a long time.  Getting off to a great start, even against mediocre competition, will often get you ranked. But it's not always a true indication of your team's strength.

I'm a successful coach now, but one of my early teams started out 2-1, then lost 24 straight.

WIS customer service is only 1 or 2 people. They aren't able to individually  teach each coach what they need to learn. The better sources, anyway, are those coaches who've played the game for a long time. If you're reading their posts, especially 'winning at D2 and D3', you'll be fine,  Just be patient and try to ignore the inexplicably rude comments you may see here.
