Good Class or Just Average? Topic

So I just joined Tark and in my first season of recruiting in the world, I got all my guys to sign at the first cycle on signing day. I feel like this may be one of my best classes ever and I still have over $5,000 left! I could be way off but thats why Im posting here. I feel like my D3 recruiting isn't as good as my D2 recruiting but heres the class just let me know what you think. Btw my prestige is a B.

Low-post 39 High   FT Shooting   High

Ok so thats my class. I know the first guy has low WE but with his BH/P/SPD I feel like I might start him the first season so WE will be over 30 pretty quickly. The second guy Im thinking ill redshirt, the third will be on the bench maybe get some time as a 3rd string and the final guy will probably be second on my depth chart at either PF or C. Im thinking thats what Ill do. If I should do something else just let me know!

Thanks, James

Outside of Newkirk's WE and DEF, I think this is a very solid class for DIII.  You should be proud of this.

Yea but I do run the zone so I figured I can have once guy with sub 40 defense starting.

Hanson is kind of low on rebounding but he will be a good defender and decent offensive option. Smith is just a gem especially with the RS. How many of those high potentials are high/high?

Whether they are low-high or high-high potentials will make a huge difference. Smith, in particular, could go from adequate to all-conference, depending on that.

Newkirk is OK, not great. It will help a lot if you can (as you mentioned) get him starts/minutes early in his career.

Smith is the best of the bunch, and could be a real coup if some of his key highs are high-high.

Lewis and Hanson both (but especially Hanson) strike me as players without real positions. Lewis is slow for a SF, but zone will at least help mitigate that somewhat so he's not picked on and apart by opponents. Hanson, though, would be brutal at SF (speed) and for a 4-5, where you plan on playing him, that rebounding may be real trouble in the zone.

Overall, not bad for B prestige. A mix of solid, projects, and (potential) stars. Did you send scouting trips to know about high-high potentials?

Ok the only guy i didn't scout what Homer Lewis. Here's the other guys high-high categories:

Smith: DEF, RBD, PER, LP, P, SPD, ATH

Hanson: DEF, ATH, LP

Newkirk: P, BH

Hanson has "Average" potential for Ath, according to your first post. If that is really a high-high instead of average, it makes a huge difference.

Smith should be a star, especially if you can get that redshirt season without losing WE. He was an excellent pull for you.

Scott Smith is nasty. Lewis is pretty good. Newkirk could be very good if ath is on the high end of avg; otherwise he's an above avg point guard. Not a fan of hanson personally.

If Im looking at recruits I will just assume high high is 30 points. Thats means Smith is going to be at least 50s for ath and 90s for speed to go along with everything else. Thats a hell of a D3 player.

Yea I noticed that and I sent 10 scouting trips to Hanson and most of them were the Average potential message for ATH but I got one that that had the high-high message so I was kinda confused about that but I got the message so Im assuming FSS is just wrong on this?
5/30/2012 6:44 AM
FSS isn't going to be wrong about being average when it's really high/high.  I could be wrong, but I'm guessing you could be misreading.  At least I haven't seen that in all my seasons.

You should post the message.
5/30/2012 10:09 AM
Ohh my bad I see what I did. I went through the messages again and the 2 messages that contained info on ath had a high-high message under them and I was a little tipsy last night so the messages were appearing out of place to me lol sorry for the confusion

with scott smith(look at original post) how should I allocate his practice minutes? do it even across the board? or develop his cores first? I do 20/20 for o/d so I can do 10 in each category with 12 m in 3 categories if i do it evenly or if I were to develop cores first what do I put them at?

Thanks, James

He took the redshirt? If so, what position are you going to start him at next season?
6/2/2012 5:00 PM
yes he took the redshirt and I wanted to put him at SG next season
