Huge problem with recruiting (nothing new) Topic

There is something inherently wrong with the game design when conference mates are worried about fighting one another for recruits. In real life there is nothing better than FSU taking a recruit from Miami or UNC from Duke...in this game its almost like committing a crime, if you try and battle certain conference mates. Its a joke but a biproduct of the way recruiting is designed, I wish recruiting money wasnt tied to conference success, it would encourage more battles...and really help balance things out.

everyone is fair game mmt, and those who feel otherwise need to suck it up.

i certainly haven't noticed this at all in my D1 conferences...at least at the Big 6 level

Agree 100%. The postseason cash system curtails lots of battles at the high DI level. I have been in conferences with successful coaches where I have been criticized for battling conference mates because it "hurts the conference." Priorities 1-10 should be your team. Really would like to see a change to the conference bonus money system or get rid of it altogether and let the increased prestige be enough.

I also agree 100%

I'll definitely shy away from battles in conference if there is a similarly talented recruit I can try to take away from a coach in another conference (which, in D3, there usually is).  That being said, I've definitely battled my conference mates more than a few times when I've needed to.

The 2 things that cause this are:
1) the NT money system
2) conference prestige as a factor in team prestige.

I have for a long time advocated reducing #1 from $20k to $15k and eliminating the effect of conference prestige as a factor in team prestige.  Michigan State winning a title does not make Penn State a better place to go.

For those of you who think this doesnt exist; simply take a look at any Big 6 CC during recruiting and you might change your tune...Reinsal your second point is a great solution and something that would immediately help; the first point I agree with as well but is a bit more tricky to fix.

I agree that the NT money system is hard to fix, but dropping the money per game from $20k to $15k would limit its value a little.  The Allen ACC rarely battles and pulled in $69,500 in NT money.  Who's going to fight a conference mate with 2 openings and $100k?  No one.

If you dropped it to $15k that would disproportionately affect the richest big 6 teams and help the mid-majors.

If you send in a ticket about this, please stress that the reduction is for D1 only. At D2 and D3, we barely have enough money for FSS.

i think battles in conference should be more plentiful....

in real life when was the last time UCLA and USC didn't battle over a player.... or duke and UNC? or Mizzou and kansas? or UT and some other texas school? they battle on almost every player.

the problem is that right now there is no inventive too

I'm pretty much the same.  I'll battle anyone if I really want the guy, whether they're in my conference or not.  But, as you said, there are usually similar players out there that don't need to be battled for or are considered by a rival conference.
