I was actually somewhat serious there.  His speed is a little lower than I would like in a guard ... as are, actually, all of my guards right now.  But as you say - really can't complain, especially since he was the fallback position ... and ended up better than the guy I was aiming at.

But on a separate note - what would your 'formula' be for a post defender, and do you consider SF defenders to have a defensive formula more akin to Posts or guards?

And are you one of those that discounts shot blocking entirely(Which I see with some) Or is it valued?

 

His speed may be a little lower than you like, but seriously Arss, this guy is gonna be a nasty defensive player for a D2 guard.  Plus, with you running M2M, he'll pretty much be able to lock down any opposing guard he's matched up against.

I see he's a Sophomore, does he have any room left to grow in Ath/Spd at all?  And of course, as his IQ improves, he'll just get that much nastier too.  Guy's a beast, I'd absolutely love to have him on any of my D2 teams.

Agreed. That guy is a stud defender.

I think he just got the two guys mixed up.  No, William Journey won't be a stud defender, I'm sure we can all agree on that.  But as Dahs said, my post that you quoted above wasn't referring to him, it was referring to arss' guy (Clarence Beedle).  And if you don't think his guy Beedle is gonna be a defensive stud for D2, good gracious, I'd love to see what constitutes one in your eyes!

ars - thanks for your advice several seasons ago, but I wish you hadn't totally jacked my thread.  I mean, you can't seriously be wondering if a 76/75/FREAKING 99 guy is an exceptional D2 defender, or if TJ wouldn't consider him to be one.  260>240.

Apologize - but back to the original - mediocre defender but should be ok paired with a good one that can either sub for him or double team against ofeensige threats/

Thanks, appreciated.  If I can line up a real PG he'll still be a career backup, but it's good to know he won't be the absolute death of me if he has to start next season or beyond.
