3-point setting Topic

Has anyone else had recent experiences where players have been shooting 3-point shots, despite being set to (-2)?

Have you read through the pbp to determine when the shots were taken?

I just had a PG go 0-2 from the floor, both 3's and was set to -1 and NOT half court heaves at the end of the halves.

That is just my frosh PF doing that...

Yes. I had a couple throughout the season from guys that i wouldn't want taking them, but where I could see an argument for it. Down 5 with 30 seconds, for example, and the C heaving one up. Not ideal, but arguable.

Most recently though, a SG tossed up 6 in the flow of the game, despite being set to -2.

I would submit a ticket on that, zbrent. When set at -2, I've only seen players shoot threes as last second shots, usually from half court.

I've sent one in, but was curious if it was an isolated incident or others have noticed something similar. I hope to hear back before the NT begins, as it could definitely impact strategy if it is not working correctly.

Just to make sure, you don't have the player distro set to all 0's right?  The 3 pt settings get ignored if you do that.  Otherwise, yeah that shouldn't be happening.

Nope, I specifically don't set *anyone* to zero.

And the -2 worked for everyone else; the only other 3-point shot was a full court shot taken at the end of the first half.

I know this is what the FAQs say or this is specifically spelled out somewhere, but this has not been my experience when running all 0's.  It DOES take into account 3-pt settings when going all 0's for distribution.

I thought seble changed that.  All 0s doesn't do what it used to, I don't think.

I've seen all 0's with a -2 taking handfuls of 3's very recently.  It's possible it was taking them into account but something else was broken to make it seem like it wasn't.

Same...I ran over half of this current season at all 0's and only had 3's taken by players I wanted taking them (other than the random buzzer beater, of course).

i couldn't disagree with that more.  My coe team had everyone set to 0s for every single game of the season and look at the result.  pretty self explanatory

Of course, the all zeroes could be why a team that good has six losses too. (wink, wink)

Never really understood the all zeroes method.  We don't have much control over our teams as it is, why take away one of the most important (if not THE most important) tools we have?  I guess I can see it for a game or two to try to determine who the engine likes as scorers, but a whole season?  I don't know, to each his own I guess.  I just like to have as much control over my players as possible.

on new teams or young teams sometimes I'll run 0 for the NC and adjust once I've got a few games of data (still insignificant really I suppose, but some) to look at...
