For kevodaphenom and hoosierkyle: Once you set your roll %'s and hit save, then you go back to the original search page and click on the dropdown box for Overall Rating. There you will see the label for the role you created.

If you know what you want in recruiting, you shouldnt need a tool to help you know if you HAVE it for depth chart positioning..
Hoosierkyle - go to your recruit summary page and start moving recruits over to the compare portion and then click the compare arrow.  Once up, you can then select your player role to see if any recruits fit your critieria.  But again, maybe Im alone on this, but If I do my recruit search using attribute ranges, then I wont need a % tool to tell me if one of the players fits my criteria.  PLUS potential is NOT included, cause even if I used the Player Role % Tool, I would want someway for a targeted attribute to be further magnified if the recruit was BLUE in that category..

Its useful for me in the following ways (once I've tinkered with it and got it set):

1) Saves me the trouble of putting in my search parameters every time I run a search in recruiting (frequently) as I can just set the player role button

2) its another way to quickly scan for potential recruits.

It won't replace the method I currently use but will supplement it and give me a second look at some players.  I can then see players with potential quickly who already may be on the path to the attributes I want.  It's not a magic recruiting or depth chart tool, but don't think it should be. ;It somewhat incorporates the external spreadsheet tools some people have and further integration of tools is helpful (not always recruiting with access to spreadsheets, etc).

I can see where it might be of some use but not alot. I really wish WIS would spend some of the time used on stuff like this to deal with the bigger issues the game has or maybe just update the FAQ page for the newer players to get the correct info instead of what they get now.

++1...
Biggest waste of space/time.. This has no value since a recruit's potential is not included in the %s.  How or why is this different than knowing the attribute rating one is looking for in specific categories?  So instead of saying I need a 70/70 BH/PA we are saying the % in which we value those attributes... Again, whats the difference.. Im probably missing the entire point of this and hope that the Player Roles is a positive step but at this point I feel its something each coach did anyway when pre-recruiting or was something done when searching for recruits but only with the attributes needed.  The Player Roles feature should be under the Recruiting tab.. Not sure why its under Coaching.. Since there is no value towards game planning.. If a coach doesnt know how to recruit for each position, then how does WIS expect them to put %s in for the attributes that they need for specific players?  Good effort, but just like with New Coke, the original didnt need to be reworked.
I really disagree. This isn't a waste of time/space.  This can be used to decide which states to scout. That will be why I use it. It will just help so you don't have to go through a bunch of high durability/stamina/WE scrubs to determine which states to scout.  And the other use would be to determine which player to start at which position. EX: I set my role for the ideal SG whichever player on my team has the highest % of it gets the starting job.
But how is this different from just using the attribute search bars on the recruit search page?  You can see what state players are from and can be no different..
...it's faster because you only have to set it once instead of everytime you search for recruits. C'mon man!

I really don't see why people are complaining about this. It's a useful tool.

1) You create your player role once instead of setting the parameters EVERY TIME you search for recruits.

2) When you choose your player role under the "overall rating" dropdown menu on the recruit search page, it returns to you players who match your role and lists their eligible years, distance and location. You can use this to help decide which states to scout.

3) Once you purchase FSS, if you want to incorporate their potentials, just add them to the recruit compare list and it displays their potentials.

4) It can help you decide how to set your depth chart.

Doesn't seem like a "waste of space/time" to me. I guess some people just need things to complain about...

I like it.  Weighting the priorities already got me to look at some players I would have missed before, who are low in one category I value but very high in others.

So far I just assigned roles 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 but I want to play around with some hybrid categories, 2's and 4's who can be 3's being traditional favorites.

I like it. It's not a need of mine, but might help make some difficult decisions between close players a little easier.

It's fun to play around with I'll give it that, but all it really did for me was prove I wasn't nuts having a SF be my 3rd center on the depth chart. I don't anticipate using it for recruiting at all, even for deciding where to scout (already have my own methods for that). But I don't recruit using excel either so even if this were accounting for potentials, I'm sure I'd still stick to my own ways before using this tool. But again, it is fun to play around with.

But if the best thing this did was allow you to not have to repeat search requirements over and over, well there is a much simpler thing they could have implemented which it seems most other WIS games have called saving searches!

I think it is a nice tool to play around with setting depth charts, but I didn't struggle with that before. I wouldn't use this to evaluate talent because so much is based on FSS and potential.
I agree.

I can't really see it helping me with recruiting unless I am looking at it wrong.  I've never been concerned about a recruits percentage of any attribute compared to another attribute or the whole.  Should I be?  I do have core values I look for, but I don't care if they are 10 percent of the overall value or 50 percent.  If my PG has speed and handle the ball then I'll take a gander at him.  Am I missing something?

I didn't think I was crazy but starting a sf at c, it confirmed... This won't change anything for me.

Why isn't it under RECRUITING???
6/26/2012 10:21 PM
Because you can use it against your current roster as well.
6/26/2012 11:14 PM
Ill say this much... I am happy that we have a new feature but I really dont understand it all. How do you use this?
