This will help me, especially when I am using my iPad or iPhone to recruit and don't have Excel to help me weight recruit attributes. Being able to filter based on potential or age a recruit based on WE and potential like you could with a complicated enough spreadsheet would be nice, but this is a great tool as it is.

I think it is a nice tool to play around with setting depth charts, but I didn't struggle with that before. I wouldn't use this to evaluate talent because so much is based on FSS and potential.
Partially true, but I'm still rarely going to bother with a pg under 40 speed, regardless of potential.  I think it's a nice way to sort recruits where you only have to do it once, instead of having to constanty say 40spd/30def/30bh/whatever every time you search.
Disagree, could make for a red shirt candidate with the right team. But I don't think this tool will help me find said player easier I think it just helps quantify things for coaches, things that many of us have already learned, potentially taking away some of the learning curve. Whether that is good or not I'm not sure.

I've played around with it a little bit and I don't see how I can use it for recruiting.  As soon as I save a Player Role and brings up my roster.....then that's it.  When I go back to Player Roles, I can't even see my roster anymore....it just sits there.
The tool is very clunky in the creating a role screen just like the Facebook app for iPhone.... (why can't I compare roles??)

If you know what you want in recruiting, you shouldnt need a tool to help you know if you HAVE it for depth chart positioning..
Hoosierkyle - go to your recruit summary page and start moving recruits over to the compare portion and then click the compare arrow.  Once up, you can then select your player role to see if any recruits fit your critieria.  But again, maybe Im alone on this, but If I do my recruit search using attribute ranges, then I wont need a % tool to tell me if one of the players fits my criteria.  PLUS potential is NOT included, cause even if I used the Player Role % Tool, I would want someway for a targeted attribute to be further magnified if the recruit was BLUE in that category..
Couldn't agree more ms.

I can see where it might be of some use but not alot. I really wish WIS would spend some of the time used on stuff like this to deal with the bigger issues the game has or maybe just update the FAQ page for the newer players to get the correct info instead of what they get now.

Office for iPad is coming soon...!

I agree that I won't be using this much but I do think it may help new users rather than hurt them.  Providing an agreed upon (relatively) player role formula relative to different offenses could quickly help new players understand what attributes the system and therefore veteran users weigh heavily upon during recruiting.  At the same time, successful coaches providing that information could make us all lemmings using the same scales, but as users learn to adjust based on their team/needs, I am hopeful the engine will 'support' different strategies.

There are many different strategies, but they all begin with recruiting. While the idea behind this is to enhance coaches (and I'd presume new coaches) experience, I think this will confuse new coaches more than it will help unless there is a small guide to what it is and how to use it.

this feature is only for new coaches.

old-timers will never use this unless they're lazy.

that said, I have no idea how to recruit now without boosters. It's gonna be a totally new experience for me.

I really don't get this love affair some people seem to have with "fake difficulty" - in other words with difficulty of process rather than analysis. Why is it good to have that sort of difficulty? Just because they have the tool, the tool will only give them results as good as what they put into it.

How is it 'fake difficulty' when it was the reality of the game? The learning curve was absolutely there and I'd question it being considered 'fake'.

That said - I've not said I'm against it, actually I'm completely impartial because this is nothing that you couldn't do with some basic Excel knowledge. I'm just not sure if it will enhance new player experience or not.

So I guess helping out new coaches is considered a fail?

Why does everyone automatically assume this will be a godsend to new players? The game is already complicated enough and now we are going to try and have new coaches create personal ratings on a game they haven't even coached a season yet? They are automatically going to realize exactly what ratings are important at what positions? and be able to use this tool to maximize that knowledge?

Sorry I find it hard to believe.

I guess the same reason people think that new coaches sign up expecting to use "basic excel knowledge" to create spreadsheets that do the same thing?

I think that if seble could create 2 general player roles - one for guards and one for bigs - for everyone to use, new players could use those to find out what type of recruits they should be looking for. All too often a new coach posts in the forums, "what ratings should I be looking for in a ___." This could help eliminate that problem.
