Yes, those players quit the team, they are not early entries.

I think the USC players transferred due to playing time. They apparently split 22.1 mpg based on returning player minutes.
Oh, if that is correct, then I stand corrected. Didnt notice the difference. Thanks! Sorry Seble.

Of early entries in both Naismith and Phelan, only one came from a school with less than A- prestige.  That player is from a B+ school.

There were 16 total early entries in Phelan and 24 in Naismith.

Naismith: 0 FR, 3 SO, 21 JR
Phelan: 0 FR, 7 SO, 9 JR

Seble - Of the 24 early entries in Naismith, how many of those were PG or SG?
6/27/2012 1:05 PM
There was one PG early entry in Naismith.

professor - are there PGs that you see that you think should have gone early?
6/27/2012 1:07 PM
seble - Could you please also provide the number of SG that went EE in Naismith? Thank you.

Here's the only thing I can think of...and I don't know how long this will take to balance out...but good bigs have RARELY made it to graduation because of the old EE logic, whereas there have always been good guards even going undrafted....so MAYBE it's not that irrational that we are still going to see a heavy slant on big EE's because there are enough guards in Sr year to preclude any EE's whereas there just aren't that many draft-worthy Sr bigs because they usually are gone after 2 or 3 years

Boston College in Naismith went 4-23 (1-15 in conference) and lost two players to EE. Granted they were talented players but it is really going to be tough going forward.

At the risk of ******* off the coaches of these players (there's one of my own on the list as well), here's a not-all-inclusive list of guards in Phelan that I thought would have been serious candidates for going EE. If I have time I'll edit later to include player links:

Seriously, not a single one of these guys went EE?

Here's a breakdown of the Phelan's EE for the teams which reached S16 in this past tourney:

1 EE for NT Champion
1 EE for NT Champion (loser)
1 EE each for NT F4
1 EE for just one of the E8 losers (only 1 of which had 5 seniors leaving)
1 EE each for three of the S16 losers, zero EE for the other 5 (2 of which had 5 seniors leaving)

Looking at all 17 EEs from Phelan, only 1 team lost more than 1 and he also lost in the first round of the NT (at least his team is an A- prestige).

Breakdown of EEs by prestige:

8 EEs to A+ prestige teams (1 each)
2 EEs to A prestige teams (1 each)
6 EEs to A- prestige teams (Miss had 2, 1 each for others)
1 EE to B+ prestige team (yours truly)

I have not done a comprehensive search in Phelan but I have a few guys that I think probably should have gone early if we are going straight on talent.

I'll start with my team, Syracuse. I lost one SF, William Cain (Sophomore). He was my third most talented SF behind Kent (927 OVR) and Graham (897 OVR).

Looking at point guards, Chad Custard at Illinois (Jr)(ovr 809, ATH 100, SPD 100, DE 96, PER 99, BH 95, PAS 99, really stands out.
