He was an inel coming in.  Gave him 80 min of SH.  He was a 1.5 first semester, so he became inel (again).  Mid-term for second semester and he pulls another 1.5.

I've never had this happen before.  I think it's a little ridiculous, and I assume there's nothing I can do, but...anything I can do short of screwing the rest of my team by dropping team minutes and pumping more SH minutes?

nope, and it doesn't matter-- he'll turn up as a soph next season with a 2.0... You'll have to give him more SH than you want, but he'll be eligible.

Oh, he will?  He's automatically eligible even if he comes in at less than a 2.0 this semester?

Ineligibles don't practice, so you could give him all the study hall you want, but it really won't matter...

Don't know if this is currently true but it used to be that if a player finished below 2.0 it would impact his offseason development because he had to go to summer school to get eligible.  I haven't seen it posted that seble has changed that .

I don't know why, but I see this repeated on the forum very often and it's just not true.

Relevant FAQ:
Q: What happens if one of my players becomes academically ineligible?
A: Couple of things will happen - you'll lose the player for the next semester (he'll still be on the roster and can practice but just won't be eligible to play). If his cumulative GPA is still not above 2.0 at the end of the next semester, he'll be academically ineligible for another semester. In addition, each time you lose a player to academics, your reputation will take a hit. Remember, these kids are here to get an education. This isn't a minor league program for the NBA you know.

Q: If a player finishes the season with less than a 2.0 GPA, will be eligible for next season?
A: Yes. The player will be enrolled in summer school to bring his GPA up to 2.0 - of course you'll see much less improvement in the off-season for that player and he may actually get worse based on how much time he'll be in class over the summer.

Yeah, but since he was an ineligible coming in he wouldn't have gotten anything over the summer anyway, would he?

I think this is a matter of semantics. dw was referring, I believe, to Non-Qualifiers who do come to school as Ineligibles. Different from a guy who fails in school...

Ineligibles do improve over the summer if they have above a 2.0 in their first season.

Ah, ok. That could be what he meant. Thanks.

good info, yes he will come back at a 2.0 regardless. and the minutes you allocate to an ineligible don't matter, at least according to CS (i always put them all in SH anyway, can't hurt). err, non qualifier, i should say. with a qualified student who goes ineligible, you definitely don't want to go to all study hall, as someone pointed out.

and the sub 2.0 WILL hurt your off season improvement, no matter if the guy was a simple ineligible or was a non qualifier.
