have they raised the mid-term grade minimum? i just received a report and a freshman had a 2.4 gpa, with a cumulative 3.3 gpa. since when does 2.4 constitute a failing grade - athletically speaking?

No, it's still 2.0 GPA.   Did it actually say he was failing? Or was it the yellow-line warning?

Had to just be the yellow-line warning.

Yellow-line warning is for those below (maybe at) 2.5, so I agree, this must have just been the yellow-line warning.

Kind of amazing though, that crazyivan never noticed that before though, in 37 seasons. Maybe he's just always had guys either failing (<2.0) or doing fine in the classroom (>2.5).

alblackj, I love your postings, Always fun or informational and a class act. Great contributor to these boards and us new coaches. Great insights. The only problem I have with you is that we play for the first time this year on my new job at San Fran St.. Please be gentle and kind so I still like you later, LOL!

I *aim* for the yellow line and, based on my students' grades, I am a fantastic coach in that regard.

Seriously, if someone is carrying a GPA above 2.5, it means I am wasting too much time on them in Study Hall. They should be using that time to work on their basketball skills!

Well, I have never gotten a maxed out message on Conditioning, so I just assume the 80+ minutes I put there at the end are put to good use.

yes, it was the yellow line warning, and i've seen them before. just remember it being a lower threshold, or so i thought.
i prefer to improve every aspect of the player - including gpa. so i don't get them very often.
