How About This? Topic

Take a look at the situation below. I would appreciate input from the more experienced coaches out there. I'm not complaining just trying hard to learn how this game and the engine work. I just don't get it sometime.

Team #1, Human coached. 26-3. Goes 7-3 Non conference. Beats 2 ranked. Loses to 3 ranked. 2 in overtime. 16-0 wins conference and wins conference tourney. Ranked #20, 38 RPI, 99 SOS.

Team #2. AI Sim coached. 26-3. Goes 9-1 non conference. No ranked teams, only 3 winning records on NC schedule. Goes 15-1 to win his side of conference. Loses twice to team1 by 11 in conference and 5 in CT Championship. Favored both times. No ranking, 75 RPI SOS 333.

What I don't understand is how AI Sim gets coach of the year?

I would appreciate your thoughts on this. I am not whinning. Just trying to better understand what goes on with this game, it's engine and it's logic. Please do not be harsh or condensending in your answers. Just a newer coach trying to do better.

just a side note, although having nobearing on the above question, Team 1 is on the 2nd round of the NT. Team 2 is in the 2nd round of the PI.

Improvement counts a lot in the COY. What were the results from last season for both teams?

It basically boils down to Misercordia having slighter more improvement than Alvernia.  Not saying that's how it should be, but that's pretty much how it works.

The Sim's RPI went up about 130 spots from last season to this season, and their record greatly improved (12 wins maybe).  Your team's RPI went up about 40 spots from last season to this season and your team won like 5 more games.  They improved more which is pretty much what COY is all about.  BTW COY doesn't really matter.

PS You should cut Frank Johnson, the guy is kind of useless with that low ATH.

Improvement isn't the only attribute but it's a key one.  It's probably closer to real life in that aspect.

Before they changed the formula,  the COY went to the CT semi-finalist with the best record.  The new way is better

Thanks guys. That's the kind of info I need. Nothing beats experience at this game. All you guys make alot of sense. While not lessening any responses, a special shutout to alblack who always seems to be there for all of us. Now if I could win one against you, it would be special.

The trick to beating Al is to make sure you get a night game against him.  He has dinner around 4pm and is winding down with some Wopner (can't miss Wopner) before his 6pm bedtime, so as long as you get a game in after that, you'll have him asleep on the bench before tipoff.

LOL...that's more true than you realize.  My entire family gets up early. I can call my brother at 5 a.m. and he's already dressed and ready for his day.

My parents, age 86 and 83, get up at 4:30 a.m. and walk 2 miles a day before breakfast. They eat dinner at 3 p.m.

My late grandmother used to fix Thanksgiving dinner each year. It was always ready to eat by 10:30 a.m.

Our biological clocks are definitely screwed up. LOL

Thanks for the nice compliment, coachvegas. I appreciate it!

Hey m. I considered cutting him before I redshirted him. However before cutting a guy. I not only look at him but I look at what can I get that's better. He will come out of his RS as a Soph.  Before he's done, he should be a 90+ LP and 80+ stamina. He will be 25-30 Ath, 30-35 spd and 65+ reb which are so-so. He's still green on passing. He will have an A/A+ IQ in Motion and A in MM this year as a Soph. By the time he is done he will be a 600+ big. All-in-all a fairly solid backup big at D3 and I still have him for 3 years. I decided to concentrate on other needs and keep him.
