No whitey, I meant that he could have had an academic scholarship and then tried out for the basketball team later with no prior contact with the colleges basketball coaches ,but I could be wrong.

Poor whitey. He's hit colonels/fredpaul forum legend status in under 24 hrs...it took them months to develop this many fans.

Just read thru the thread and I know it's late, but am I missing something?  Why is whitey's view getting totally attacked?  Yes, he's not the most elegant poster, but he is right about FCP being broken.  We all know FCP is broken.  It should not be run as much as it is run and seble has said that he plans to phase out press as a main defense and make it more of a sub-defense.  Maybe I really am missing something, but I think he's kinda right about his point, although he is being kind of a d-bag later in this thread, we've all had those frustrating losses and can probably relate to what he's feeling.  Also, for narco and dcy...colonels was SO much more fun to argue with ;)

I hate stealing lines, but this one (paraphrased just a bit) sums it up perfectly, I think:

Whitey, what you've said are some of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent responses were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone reading this thread is now dumber for having seen it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Carry on.

I think the real problem with the disparity in the number of real life vs. HD teams running the FCP is that real life should be more reflective of HD. I think Malcolm Gladwell made a compelling argument that it makes no sense to only defend 1/2 or even 1/4 of the court. The problem is real life, not HD.

12 deep should have killed him as his freshmen are D's in the defense.  I should have shot way better than 50%
Who would complain about shooting 50% from the field??? And who would have thought this same person knows more about real basketball than anyone else!!?? We've read your posts. There is no confusion here. What's actually funny here is that people are directly quoting you and you're telling them to reread your posts as if they missed something. Smh.

So can they not give a full ride to him with the intentions of him playing bball but it not being an athletic scholarship? And actually you can talk what you want now not knowing the guy. He's not on speed dial anymore as married lives changes friendships but he is not the story teller kind. Anyone remember the may recruit Brandon cotton who was a top 100 recruit but flopped as a fresh and went to Detroit then. In high school one let game was my friend played against him and hung right there with him. Like I said he ended up playing in the same league as Casey Jacobson for 5 yes on and off as you get traded a lot in Europe
Are we supposed to know what he means here?  Am I the only one who is more than a little confused by the grammar and punctuation in here?

no they can not give you a scholarship that has anything to do with athletics ability.  any aid he has to get has to be comparable and on par to that of any other student at the school regardless of whether they play sports.  reports on this stuff has to be compiled and sent to the NCAA and the USDOE and schools that violate these rules face NCAA penalties and the possible loss of funding from the US Government.

so no,they can not "give him a full ride with the intentions of him playing basketball but it not being an athletic scholarship".
I'm not getting in the middle of this except to say that's not true.  You're right, of course, that they're not supposed to.  But D3 coaches often work with financial aid departments to help athletes while everyone looks the other way.

Okay, so for the sake of realism as whitey is soapboxing about, D3 coaches should, after recruiting, have to go through another process where they negotiate with the financial aid office to see what kind of "help" they can get their athletes.

That part of the game might be fun.

You nailed it when you said "we all know FCP is broken."  And then again when you said "he is being kind of a d-bag later in this thread."

The FCP is obviously broken, but the game said d-bag is talking about wouldn't be the poster child for proving that.  He got fouled 31 times and shot 50% from the floor against a young team running the press... that's about what you'd expect/want to happen if you were him.  He still lost, perhaps because his team just wasn't as good as the other in key areas.  Just don't try to tell him that or he'll call you a "dummy-o", "cronie", "flippin retard"... basically take any 4th grade insult, throw them all in a hat and then pick a random one out.  That's about the education level he's on par with.

But he's totally smart.  Just ask him, he'll tell you all about it.  Just don't pay attention to his grammar, because he's on his droid and he doesn't care about it on there.  And don't pay attention to things like where he's trying to say he has "decent" players but instead says they're "descent".  He totally meant to do that, too.

For the won't 15th time when 90% of my post have been on a Droid, you think on worried about grammar? And yes I was obviously wrong about a direct athletic d3 scholarship, but isack probably hits in on the head. I went to a community college in northern Michigan for 2 yes and there were were 9 or so inner city black kids on the team. They were the only black kids I ever saw on campus. I had a some classes with a couple and though we never talked scholarships, I do know they didn't work. Pretty obvious why they went to that college because they could ball.

Shows your own real intelligence ryrun. Look at the reference for dummy-o. You love to take away and add things to statements. Just like rednation. You guys should run some campaign commercials for Romney and Obama. The 60% comment was in relation to the d off and def. Grading of the other team and not in an average game
